My son has arrived and his birth story
I can't believe it but my son is here. On Saturday during the day I was feeling cramping on and off all day but nothing too intense. I figured I just over did it. I went and got my hair done and manicure and pedicure. I got home around 6:00 and noticed the cramping was getting worse. I figured maybe I didn't drink alot that day and was a little dehydrated. I laid down and drank a ton on water. By 11:00pm that night my contractions were 5 minutes apart and started losing my mucous plug. I called my ob and he told me to hang out at home until they got closer. They continued all night and Sunday morning they were 4 minutes apart and getting very intense. I finally decided to head to the hospital and got there at 12:30pm. They examined me and I was 3 centimeters dialated. They decided to keep me because my contractions were very strong and 2-3 minutes apart. At 1:37 they moved me to a labor and delivery room and I was dying from the pain. They ordered an epidural but I never got it. At this point I felt I needed to push. I never saw the nurses and doctor move so fast when you tell them you need to push. The doctor rushed over to me and my water was bulging so they broke it and fully dilaited and they could see the head. But they were also concerned because the baby's heart rate was dropping. They told me if I didn't push this baby out now I was going in for an emergency c-section. In three pushes he was out. The cord was wrapped twice around his neck. It was very scary. He was born at 1:59. He weighed 4 pounds 10 ounces and we named him Nathan. He's in the nicu because he did swallow some meconium and his white blood cells are low. He has an infection and is being treated with antibiotics. He may be there for two weeks. There not sure yet. I'm home now and a little sad I don't have my son with me. Please say a prayer that this infection clears up and he comes home soon. I will keep you guys updated.

Patty

Congratulations. I am sorry he is in the NICU. Unless you have had a child in the NICU you will never know how hard it is. You seem to be in good spirits and I am so glad you got to have a natural birth LOL even if you didn't want one.
The good news is that babies heal so fast. Riley was born pretty much dead, Apgars of 2 and 3 and was home in 5 days. I can't wait to see pictures of your tiny boy!

Overall...a happy ending to a big scare. I'm glad things turned out well...and pray Nathan's home with you soon. Try to spend a little time getting some rest and recoverying between trips up to the hospital.
