Nuchal Translucency Test....
I didn't do anything but the ultrasounds. I figured that if I was having a special child then fine I am having a special child. Why cause more worry during the pregnancy about issues that may come up from the tests? I have known a few ladies that have done all tests and gotten false positives and they were miserable their entire pregnancy.

The only blood work I had done were my labs at the beginning and my fasting blood draw towards the end. I had a good 7 or 8 ultrasounds through-out my pregnancy (my 1st doctors office did them every visit) My 2nd doctors office did the gender one and the in depth one to make sure everything was there and everything looked normal...

I did the test and it was no big deal. Even if you don't feel like it will change anything if it comes out bad, it can sometimes be good to know if your baby is at risk for something so that you can have appropriate specialists on hand at delivery or lined up for care after birth. Better to research things like that ahead of time than scramble to find the info after you've already got a baby to take care of (in my opinion).

I chose to do the NT test --- but I knew I wouldn't end the pregnancy if anything was wrong. I just wanted to be prepared. (My hospital is a level III NICU... but still, I wanted to be mentally prepared).
The test was easy and harmless - a little blood taken a week before the ultrasound. On the day of the ultrasound they did measurements of the baby's neck, etc and then once we had those numbers we were able to compare them to blood tests and get the results right away.
My percentage of having a baby with Trisomy disorder (13, 18 or 21) actually went DOWN with the test.... so that is good news.
I would probably not chosen to have an amnio even if the results were poor as I was (and still am) willing to accept what God has given me.

I did the test, ours came back normal but even if had not come back normal we had decided that we would NOT do the Amnio there was no way I was going to risk miscarriage regardless, as we would have continued with the pregnancy either way so not willing to risk things!
I think the test is perfectly harmless and a great way to get a more detail u/s of your baby!
