Help with hcg trigger and ultrasound results
So my ultrasound showed 3 follies, 21mm, 11mm, 12mm. The problem is that my doctor was not there and I got info through the ultrasound tech who was getting infor through another doctor. They said to give myself the trigger and have sex for the next three days. Does this sound correct? Are the follies big enough? I thought you had like 36 hours or something, not three days. Anybody have any answers?
The 21MM is mature enough. When you give yourself the trigger shot you ovulate 36 hours later. So, if you trigger at 9pm tonight if you were having an IUI they would schedule you for 9am on Wednesday morning. Remember sperm can live up to 5 days. So, I would BD Monday-Friday at least every other day. Just my opinion. You might get that 12 to ovulate a little later, maybe.
Just my two cents, I am sure others will give you theirs.
Best of luck to you for a BFP!

I think the answer you are looking for is that the egg 'should' pop in 36 hours...so bd now. Sperm live up to 5 days and the egg 24 hours or so. So if the egg pops in 36 and it lives for 24 that is 60 hours or about 2.5 day window to get it on and hit the mark. Everyone doesn't respond exactly the same...so the doc is making sure your bases are covered. If you weren't given the trigger the egg 'usually' grows about 2 a day and you would ovulate on your own in 2-4 days or so. The trigger is to really just help make sure timing is right. You aren't getting an iui?? Good luck and keep us posted. Shari
Oh, and don't forget that getting an hcg trigger shot could give you a false positive pg urine test. A lot of women get cheap tests, dollar store tests....to test out their hcg, to make sure it is gone...so when you do get a line near the end of your 2ww you know it is a true + and not the trigger still in your system. Some would go crazy if they didn't. Others have no problem waiting until af is due and if no af getting a bloodtest. It really is up to how crazy it will make you, how bad you want to know early. If you don't test out, then it wouldn't be a good idea to test at 10-11-12 dpo...you just wouldn't know for sure. There is some approximation of how long the trigger takes to test out...but I am not sure of it. It has to do with the dose you take. I say if you are not a test oholic like most of us....don't worry about it. If it happens you will know in a couple of weeks! Shari
