Help me take my vitamins!!!

I'm almost 5 years post-op and 29 weeks pregnant.  In the beginning of my pregnancy I was pretty good about taking my prenatal but now...forget it.

I couldn't tolerate the chewable anymore but I started taking flintstones at the suggestion of my nurse.

I just don't remember and I NEED TO!!!!

I don't take any other supplements.  I never really have.  My levels have always been fine but right now I know the baby is sucking the life outta me and I need a way to remember.  I have the vitamins on the counter so I look at them all the time but now I just look thru them.  KWIM?

My first baby was pre-op and was very small.  Only 5lbs.  I had a LOT of problems with that pregnancy.  This one has been smooth sailing.  I am the POSTER CHILD for pregnancy after gastric bypass.  But I suck and haven't been taking any vitamins and not eating right either.

HELP!

How do you get yourself to do it?

Seriously?!
None of us can make you do anything that you aren't willing to do on your own. We can offer tips on ways to remember to take your vitamins (which should be more than Flintstones chewables for prenatal support), but if you're looking right at them and still not taking them, nothing we can offer will help make it important.
I don't mean to be too harsh, but since you have already had a pregnancy with issues, I would think that a low birth weight baby the first time around would make being healthy this time around super important.
To be a "Poster Child" for pregnancy after gastric bypass, you need to take your vitamins. Eat healthy. Exercsise. There are women in here who would give their left arm and probably lots of other things to be pregnant like you.
And, it's really not about you, its about the baby and being healthy for her/him.

I have alarms set on my phone to remember to take them 3 times a day. Taking them has been important since I had my surgery cause I dont want to get low and have long term effects. So I set the alarms right away. Hope that suggestion helps a little.

I would either send myself an email reminder or on the phone like Shannyn said.  The other poster didn't need to be so rude!  GEESH!  I mean, the first step is admitting it, right?  ;-)

Maybe keep them in your purse, or put them next to your toothbrush, or put a note on the front door at eye level...or on your bathroom mirror?

When I am a tad constipated from the prenatals I take my kids' gummy bear vitamins.  They are MUCH better tasting than flintstones!  And I take 3.

Good luck!  I know it's hard to remember...I just keep trying to tell myself I'm doing it for my babies, not me.

I never miss a day  because I know it's so important for the baby.   I do , however, forget sometimes or just can't stomach them in the am.   So I always carry them with my , whereever I go, so when I do "feel" up to it I have them with me.
Good luck!

What about asking your hubby or SO to remind you?? Sometimes they like to be helpful and will be anal about making sure you take them. I keep mine right on the nightstand on top of the alarm clock so I have to move them to turn it on and when I move them I take them!

I found that a pill box helps - that way you are opening 1 compartment. In addition to the flintstones you should really be taking some folic acid and calcium too, probably B12 as well. Not just for yourself but for that little one!

Hope this helps :)

I have a hard time with vites. I know I have been wonderful after I started putting them in my pill box. I have my prenatals and my folic acid in with what few other pills I take.

I am going to be honest here and admit I didn't take my prenatal pills or any supplements daily for probably the first 15 weeks, same with my first. Then I thought what the heck am I doing and bought a pill box - I put the Iron, Prenatal, Folic Acid and Potassium in it bring it with me to work and put it right on my computer so it stares me in the face. I take 2 before lunch with a glass of water and the rest at 2:30p with a full glass of water before my snack.

Stick them where you can't miss them! I have them at my computer where I can't ignore them while I am editing or emailing/talking to clients (I am a photographer/retoucher so I spend a fair bit of my work day editing on my PC). Sometimes I do forget...or if I am feeling so sick I can't take them. I just buck up and take them later. Guilt about not taking them is a great motivator! *G*
