Body Odor Changes

Hi--

This is so random, but I thought I'd post about it to see if anyone else is or has experienced this. As of tomorrow, I'll be 18 weeks pregnant and I've noticed a HUGE change in my body odor, beginning about 2 weeks ago. Usually I put antipersirant/deodarent on in the morning and that's it. Well, my underarms begin to stench by about mid-afternoon each day. I often change my shirt and put on a second dose of deodarent.

I don't think it's a matter of my nose being more sensitive, as I haven't noticed that. I know many women have a more intense sense of smell during pregnancy...no me. I just think the hormones are causing me to stink to high heaven.

I remember that a couple of years ago, one member posted about it...(I want to say it way Amy C.?)...am I alone in this or have others experienced it?

You remember correctly!  It was me.    I was sweaty ALL the time.  I had never had wet spots under my arms (unless I was working out****il then.   After Hannah was about 6 weeks old the sweaty pig syndrome left.
Putting deodarant on at night helps.  I think it gets absorped into the skin better.
Good luck!

Hi Amy--

Thanks for responding to my post earlier. I find the second coating of deodarent helps...so maybe I'll put some on before bed too.

It's so funny....my entire life, I've always run warm...a good friend even affectionately refers to me as a "sweatball." However, since becoming pregnant, my warmness has gone away...in fact, I find myself telling my husband about how cold I am all the time.

This b.o. stench is grossing me out. It's like I took onions and rubbed them under my arms. Yick!

I just hope this passes quickly...I don't want to be known as the "stinky mama."

Hiya "Stinky"....  j/k

I was like this as well when pregnant with my son... It seemed like I was putting deodorant on all the time... It was nothing to be doing it 2-3 times a day... There were days I would question if I even remembered my deodorant in the morning after my shower...

But it passed once he was born... I am back to once a day again... So hang in there and keep stocked up for the next few months... It gets better...

Congrats on your little one to be....

I was so stinky I talked to the midwife about it.  She recommended arm & hammer deoderant or the secret clinical strength.  It sort of helped.  Apparently this is another lovely hormonal thing!! :)

Well after getting no help on this when I was pregnant with Lore I went to a health food store a few weeks ago and the lady there working said that when she was pregnant she had to use 6 different deorderants when she was pregnant... she said it is all the hormones we have in our system... so I 6 different ones also... each day I use a different one and carry a all natural DO spray in my purse that I can spray on the pits at any time... I finally don't stink lol... but I have 3 all natural ones and then 3 other ones like degree etc...  so try that... use a different one every day... I know it is crazy but it really works lol... and just think you won't need any for months to come later on lol...

Hey Paula,
I was sweatier when pregnant, I don't know if I was much stinkier though.  But if you are, something you might try is a product I have.  I'm trying to figure out what it is called.  It says NATURALLY FRESH DEODERANT CRYSTAL ROLL-ON.  It supposedly has some natural crystal ingredients that actually block the bacteria from growing from your armpit sweat.  The bacteria is what makes the odor supposedly.  It does not stop you from sweating, but it does stop the smell.  I am not pregnant, but I used it just the other day, and it worked better than my usual deoderant/anti-perspirant at stopping the smell.  It is natural and is recommended as an anti-breast cancer product because it doesn't have the aluminum stuff that anti-perspirants have, which are strongly suspected to be linked to breast cancer.
Good luck Momma Stinky.  :)  Hugs

LMAO I thought I was losing my mind last week. (Still don't know if I am preggers or not) I usually don't smell by the time I take a shower in the afternoon (my morning) and this past week I have smelled. I just thought I was losing my mind.

I had to change my deodarant three times before I found one strong enough to cover my BO with this pregnancy! It made me crazy. I hope you can find something that works for you.

Ditto here!  I tried many different deoderants before really liking Degree spray. It works for me.
