Pregnant and Had Lapband 2/13/09
Hello,
Looking for some advice. I just found out that I am pregnant and really have no idea how far along! Could be 4-8 weeks along. I have had a lot of changes in my cycle since surgery and switched to a new birth control 8 weeks ago, now I am pregnant and a little concered as i am not that far post op! Any advice or stories about getting pregnant so quickly would be great. I am excited, have a 5 year old son and was planning to try again at the end of the year, but happened much quicker than expected. Hello to all on the board!

Congrats on your surprise! You were banded on my baby girl's 1st B-day. I was 2 years out when I got pregnant, but there are lot's of others that have got pregnant very soon after surgery.
I was able to keep my band filled the entire pregnancy. I only gained 20 pounds and it came off very quickly and easily.
Can I ask what kind of BC you had switched to? I sure don't want to try that kind lol!
You may continue to lose weight the entire pregnancy or you may not. With the band there really isn't a window of oppurtunity so after the baby is born you can just start all over.
Good luck and welcome to the board!

You'll be just fine!
Some docs want to unfill a band totally when you're pregnant, but this really is NOT necessary. Listen to your body, as long as you and baby are fine, it's all good. I had a slight band unfill during the worst of my morning (all day) sickness, but once that was over we put most of the fluid back and my band has helped me control my pregnancy weight gain pretty well, I'm up around 12-14 lbs, depending on the day.
If you do have a lot of nausea, ask your doc for some zofran (the pills are very tiny and there's even an orally dissolving form) because you know it isn't a good idea for us to vomit a lot.
