Pregnant with BAD allergies

I am suffering sooooo bad!!!!  I am so stuffed at night when I sleep, even with an air purifier next to my bed.  If I don't have that going, I'm sneezing and peeing my pants all day and night.

Anyone have the electric snot sucker for their kids???  I'm like ready to break down and buy it for ME.  I'm on Claritin and it works like poo.  I don't know what else to do.  I sneeze like 8-10 times in a row and end up with wet undies as a result.

Anyone else suffering with bad allergies?  What are you doing to stay sane???

Thanks!
Sandy

LOL...electric snot sucker?  They actually make one now?  I've always threatened to get one of those little dentist things they suck the saliva out of your mouth with for when I have allergies or a cold...but didn't know someone beat me to the punch.

I have no idea what you can try while pg...but I'd call your dr and ask him if there's anything else you can try.  Personally...I think Claritin is a placebo...not a darn thing in it to work for stuffy nose or allergies.  Allegra D was always the only thing I've found that I can take...nothing else does anything for me or I have opposite reactions to things...and when I take that...I'm awake for DAYS...literally.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

How about Vicks Vapo rub just to get you through til you talk to the dr?  Or one of the vicks 'sticks' that you stick up your nose and breath in the smell?

Ick.  Sorry you are dealing with this problem !  I have no advice....but using an electric snot-sucker sounds like a great plan -- and makes me wonder why I never thought to use one when I was sick!!

For me the fluid collection this whole pregnancy has been in my ears.  Some days I feel like I'm hearing things through a tunnel from all the fluid/pressure in my ears.  Wish I could get a  snot-sucker for my ears!

I hope you get some good advice!

I hear you loud and clear....well maybe not clear through my allergies...I thought I was dying.  I literally couldn't breath, and well by the time I took myself to my Dr's I was horrible- they weren't happy with me waiting.  I have seasonal allergies, since RNY I am so sensitive to medications, I have to watch what I take (because it does nothing or completely dries me out-I could make cotton from my dry mouth)...anyways...I developed horrible nasal polyps (hence it felt like my nose was blocked- it was!!) and needed to start nasal spray the ONLY 1 that is a class B in pregnancy is Rhinocort Aqua AND I needed to take an oral medication...The only safe one that helps has been Zyrtec.  So I have added both to my routine and I get a lot of relief-I run a cool mist humidifier in my room.  I use puffs with vicks often to help open me up when I need that too.  My Dr was going to start asthma treatments, because I was so bad.  Lovely- just another thing that happens with pregnancy "sometimes".  I talked him out of the asthma treatments and just try the other things first.  Good luck...and know I completely understand..don't be surprised if you have to use that nasal spray insurance doesn't like to cover it or put it on the formulary...ask for samples...it costs me 70.00 with insurance.
Edit: Let me say I am not a fan of taking anything but vits when pregnant..I think I took tylen. 1 time during my 1st pregnancy.  But my Dr told me flat out this time, I had to do medical intervention because with me not getting enough 02 that was bad enough..but that means that someone else is suffering (baby)..so I have taken them for us.  I rather not take anything..I suffered my first pregnancy through my year round allergies-and just dealt with it...this time it wasn't an option.

I was hoping someone had tried it!!  I wasn't sure.  When Kellen was in the ER they used one on him but it was connected to the wall and had some SERIOUS suction!  It cleaned him out GOOD!  But I figured if it had to work on batteries, it probably sucked...or didn't.  lol.

I bought that Lil' Noses stuff you put on the outside of the nostrills to keep the allergens out.  It works for about an hour.  Then I have to reapply, but it's not actually medicine so it's super safe to use over and over.  JUST EXPENSIVE!

My mom, hubby, and kids keep giving me flowers from the garden or for my birthday last week and it's keeping me in misery.  I've hinted that I can't handle it but the kids don't get it and want to "pick a pretty for Mommy".  Thanks kids....ACHHOOOOOO!
