Baby Poop Frequency?
Per Babycenter.com.. which has some good advice, and I've also heard it repeatedly from my mom and Aunts, as well as our pediatricians (good thing about working for a multi specialty med group), it might take a change in formula types, if he's having a lot of constipation. My brother didn't do well on milk base, had to be switched to soy.. then was fine.. other than soy stinks to high heaven.
Have they had you try lactose free yet, or switch over to the other type of formula (soy)? Average per several of the websites (I had Caitlin with projectile spit up/vomit all day Saturday at 8 days old), so had to do some reading.. the average is 3 days, if no bowel movement, then it's time to call the doctor. Or if they are constantly constipated, or having hard, dry poops.
Also, even is he's eating, if he's not getting enough liquid in, it can still constipate him.
Does your ped have you using the Mylicon or Gripe water? Never tried the gripe water myself, but the Mylicon helps Caitlin with her gas, as does using the Vent Aires and Playtex Drop-Ins. She hardly has any gas at all.

Matthew goes at least once a day occasionally it will be 2 times a day. We had some issues with constipation in the beginning our pedi recommended giving him an 1/2 to 2 oz of infant pear or apple juice. We always used the pear it wasn't as strong smelling and tasting. He would usually go within a few hours after drinking it. We've always warmed Matthew's bottle so as long as we warmed the juice like we did his bottle he kept it down. If it was served to him cold out of the refrig he would throw it back up.
If it's REALLY bad you could go to the pharmacy and get some infant glycerin suppositories and use half of one to give him some relief.
Good luck.... I hope your LO gets some relief soon.
