constipation??
Well 1st thing is not to use laxitives.....Laxative pills are NOT recommended for the treatment of constipation during pregnancy because they might stimulate uterine contractions and cause dehydration. ., and make sure you have a diet with enough fiber (20 to 35 grams each day) helps the body form soft, bulky stool.......Other changes that may help treat and prevent constipation include drinking enough water and other liquids, such as fruit and vegetable juices and clear soups....

Isnt it horrible. I take 2 Peri Colace daily. I received a RX for this by my OB many weeks ago. They help some but i can go for 8-9 days without a BM and i feel like i am going to die. Glycerin suppositories, enemas work very well if you really are compacted..........but Be-Aware. Be close to a toilet ASAP.
I take Colace regularly, too, and today my doc OK'd a little MoM occasionally, so check with your OB to see what you're allowed. As far as high-fiber foods, I find that berries work pretty well for me (particularly if I put froz raspberries in a smoothie or protein shake), and that microwave popcorn works every. single. time.
Oh, girl, welcome to the club. Constipation is one of the evil secrets of pregnancy. I had serious problems. I almost had to go to the doctor to have them remove my poop for me! But thank goodness I got it worked out at home. I have heard some doctors have allowed their patients to use Miralax. If your doctor ok's it, that is good stuff. It makes fluids go into your bowels, allowing your poop to slide out better. It doesn't give you diarrhea.
My doctor didn't want me to use Miralax...only thing my OB would allow is colace/stool softener. He would always tell me to make sure I was drinking a lot of water. I drank at least 100 oz a day!!!
If you take Calcium, ask your OB how much Magnesium you can safely take with it. That is supposed to help, though I don't think it helped me much. Some people swear by it.
Walking every day is supposed to help also.
Good luck. I know it sucks....
Edited to add: Also, I found pears and apples to be very helpful too.
