Professional Spray Tans?

So my baby shower is quickly approaching (next Saturday!) It's outdoors and I plan on getting a sundress to wear. I tried on a few at Macy's the other night and fell in love with one of them but didn't get it because I looked like a ghost in it. I'm soooooo white. I normally do a base tan right about now in the beds and then get sun naturally on my own. However, tanning beds + pregnancy = no no. So I was wondering - has anyone ever gotten a professional spray tan (I'm not even going to attempt to do one myself, the last time I did, I had a huge orange streak running down the back of my leg and my eyebrows were orange!)

Please share opinions and experiences!

I don't have an experience but wanted to give you a heads up about being in the sun while pregnant.  I sat out for about 10 minutes in the pool last summer when I was pregnant and got a mask of pregnancy from hell!  I am still putting stuff on it to make it go away.  Wear sunscreen.  The mask sucks.

Thanks Malena! My shower is outdoors but under a pavallion - so I'm not too worried about being in the sun. Especially because since my bypass - the sun makes me really sick anyways. This is only my second summer after bypass, so I'm trying to figure out how I can through it not being so pastey. But thanks for the input.

I get sprayed and mine always looks great!  My OB knows that I tan year round and suggested the spray when I was pregnant with Skyler.  I was a bit freaked by it at first thinking I would look orange but, it was very nice and pretty.  They did a great job!  I do lay out in my pool to get more color but, it seems to fade the spray tan a lot.  I think it's the chemicals or something.  I will be ready to jump back in the tanning bed once this baby pops out in December!

Get you some color and rock the sundress girl!!!

Thanks for the input Ash. I'm worried that because I'm sooo white that I will come out looking orange. Did you get the spray tan done by a person or the booth? The only places around here that do the spray tan are done in booths.

A person does mine.  She's a friend of mine and owns a upscale tanning salon here in our town.  She charges me $25.

I'd be scared to try the booth!  Jennifer is able to spray me in places a booth can't get too

Good luck!

Haha I think that's why I want the booth - because I don't want anyone spraying me! But at the same time, I don't mind not being completely tan - as long as the normal things that show are tan - mainly my arms, legs, chest, back, and face.

I did it a couple of months back. I use to tan and spray tan all the time and really liked it and it looked good. This last time i did it i looked like a Blonde Spanish Person!   It just did not look right, more than likely the place i used though. I think i paid $30 for it.  I suggest doing it a week before the shower.........so it will tone down a bit prior. Good Luck to you!!

That's what I was thinking too. I'm going to be down by the tanning place that does it this weekend (on Sunday.) So I figured that I could get it done Sunday - that would make it 6 days old by the time shower comes around. They say it only lasts 4-5 days but from what people tell me it's more like 6-7.

Interesting...I never thought of trying that...I tan horrible since I am an adult (I used to tan beautiful when I was a child / teen).  I blame it on all those horrible meds I took.  At any rate, the self tanner tells you not to use it if your pregnant, something about the chemicals.  I would have thought spray tanning would be the same.  I'll have to ask my OB, I would love to rock a tan..maybe I would look thinner.
