No Heartbeat (LONG POST)
Sorry it is long, but here is the story...
Well, I waited forever in the RE's office to see him because he had an emergency with a patient. So, he went to surgery to fix something major. He came in and I told him about the "light brown snot". So, he did a pelvic exam and said there was no blood and everything looked perfect.
He then started the ultrasound. After about four minutes hubby and I knew something was wrong. We could see the sac and baby but no heartbeat. So, after him zooming in and zooming out, he said "I am so sorry to tell you but your baby doesn't have a heartbeat". So, he said take a minute get dressed and meet me in the consult room. He hugged me and left. Then, I lost it. Quickly composed myself.
We waited in the consult room for 20 minutes...guess they were giving us time to grieve. I just wanted to talk to them and get out of dodge! So, he came in and said how sorry he was. He wants me to try and miscarry on my own. He said it can take anywhere from a few days, to a few weeks, to two months. He has had some patients take 2-3 months to miscarry "the tissue". We agreed to give it two weeks and if I haven't passed the "tissue" then I will have a DNC. He gave me a prescription of narcotics because he said you are going to have severe pain...gee thanks! He said I measured at 8 weeks and a few days. They did the blood test since my blood type is A- (RH- to see about antibodies and if and when the shot will be needed).
I am sad, in shock, and just numb actually. I really had faith that this was going to be our little miracle and hubby and I were going to have a family after 10 years of waiting. Don't get me wrong, I know I am not the ONLY one on the board that has miscarried. I know there are A LOT of you out there that is going through or has gone through a miscarriage.
My boss and hubby are making me take tomorrow off. To do what, I have no idea :) Maybe I will get a pedicure and take a bath since I wasn't allowed to take a bath for a while!!!
Thank you all for your support and encouragement through TTC, getting pregnant, and updates on ultrasounds. I wish all of you that are pregnant the best of pregnancy and birth. Those that are TTC I hope you get your BFP soon. I will be lurking and posting on the lovely TTC posts.
