The Breast Pump Thing...
Thanks everyone for your input on the breast pumps. I have a few friends that have twins and all of them (including the strangers I've met in the malls - LOL) have highly suggested that I breastfeed. I am hoping that I can feed both at the same time (as they all suggested) or if I can pump and feed one while hubby feeds another. We are just going to have to try and see what works for us.
I'm so glad that the Medela seems to be the route to go. I would LOVE to get another Lactina so I'm checking eBay and craigslist as I can't afford one new. My insurance will only allow me to rent one for 3 months. And I had to wait a few weeks before even getting it, and I feel that it was too late. I could have used that pump from the get-go since he was a BAD sucker.
Anyhoo, thanks for all the advice!! I'm going to look into getting one cheap so that I don't waste money if it doesn't work out. I'm not going to go crazy with this but I have regrets about not trying hard enough with Kellen and have always said "if I had it to do over again, I'd...." so I gotta try!

Sandy,
Did you talk to your doctor and lactation specialist and/or the insurance people? Most of the time they can get one for you right in the hospital. The 3 months might be a limit, but there's no reason you should have to wait, especially given your history. My doctor and lactation person both wrote to the insurance (Kaiser, HMO though) that I needed the pump and I got it for as long as I wanted it for Bryson. You could also just start with the hospital one for the 3 months and THEN look into another one if your insurance won't continue coverage. By then, you'll know what you need, and it might be worth it to rent the Lactina for a few more months, or at least you could decide what to do then. Good luck!
