Hola Ladies!  I'm almost six years post-op (RNY) and about 10 weeks pregnant.  I scoured the board posts, but was wondering if anyone counted cals during pregnancy?  I had my first OB appt a week and a half ago and was shocked that I was 156lbs...that's 10lbs higher than pre pregnancy!!!  I know now is not the time to worry about weight, but I gained 54lbs with my only child in 2001 and that is what ultimately pushed me into a tailspin with my weight leading to WLS.  I just wanted to know if any of you continued using fitday or sparkpeople during pregnancy to track cals?  Although I'm looking forward to the baby belly, I'm comfortable maintaing around 1500cals/day for the time being and until my body tells me otherwise...I want to be able to use one of those bella bands and wear my pre-preggo clothes, at the rate I'm goin, I doubt I'll be able to get my pants over my hips in a few weeks!! Thanks for your input!

First Cogratulations on your pregnancy!!

I did not count calories or do any of that while I was pregnant. I ate what I wanted when I wanted, just in moderation (and sometimes not). I gained 32 lbs with my pregnancy, and now 5 weeks out, i'm 5 lbs to my pre-pregnancy weight. I know this varies with everybody, just do what you are comfortable with. I noticed during my pregnancy that it was almost as though i never had the surgery. Part of the miracle I guess, cause almost as soon as I popped my little man out, I had the "restriction" that you should have after bypass. Good luck to you!
I'm off to post about calorie intake now, because I don't remember what it's supposed to be! :-)

1500 is not going to be enough though pregenancy, the ADA reccomends 1900 in the first trimester and about 2200 to 2500 in the second and third trimester, and this is the exact same info that my doc and NUT gave me.

I was told to increase my cals til I stopped losing.

so far, I've gone up to 1500 a day and still lose, so I'm upping it more and just really eating all day long. seriously.  I eat healthy for the most part but I am eating a ton

You should consult with your doctor/nutritionist, etc for the right amount of calories for you specifically.  My particular doctor wanted me to be consuming approximately 2000 calories a day.  I do count my calories on thedailyplate.com.  Mostly I do that to make sure I am getting adequate protein and to keep myself honest about what I am eating.

So far the doctor is very pleased with my gain.  Not too little, not too much.  I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow and I have gained 10 pounds.  That being said, I really haven't been exercising the way I should so I am sure that would have made things even better.

I obsess way too much about my weight and am trying to chill a bit.  Now that I've gotten the reassurance from my OB at the last visit that I am on the right track, I am trying not to worry too much.

Love, Riah
