Baby movement, when to worry? *Updated*

So I have a very busy boy, he is all over the place and I am usually kicked all day long. They are strong kicks, not just flutters. Last night around midnight, his normal crazy period, he didn't get active, I drank some juice, laid on my side, got nothing. So I pulled out the doppler and heard his heartbeat right away and went to bed. Today he is totally subdued, a small flutter here and there, one or two real kicks, but nothing crazy like normal. His heart beat is right on. so I am wondering when I should start to worry about movement (or even if I SHOULD worry). I am 24 weeks tomorrow.

** Not two mins after I posted I felt like my stomach did a total flip, and there he was, battering my insides with kicks and punches. He must have been facing my back (where my placenta is), and I just could not feel him. I went to use the doppler again and he kicked me so hard right where it was placed that I dropped it LOL

My midwives always told me any noticable decrease in activity give them a call.  It is prob. nothing to worry about, but when my kids were involved I was always of the motto "better safe than sorry." Blessings to you!!-Jen

if you are ever concerned, call your doc.

I'll bet everything is just fine...some kids don't move a ton all the time but you can always get checked out. better safe than sorry is what they always told me.

I am sure everything is fine, but if it makes you feel better I would call the dr.  My dr explained to me that sometime they could be turned around and kicking toward your back and you wouldn't feel anything.  Our little guy does his own thing.  Some days he kicks like crazy, then I hardly feel him the next.  So my dr got many calls from me, he must think I am nuts!

I had some periods where I started to panic when I was probably around where you are at. She was so active all of the time and then when I would not feel her normal gymnastics I would start to panic. I recall once when I only felt a few flutters for an entire weekend. I knew that her heart was beating away because I have a doppler as well. At my next OB appointment I mentioned it to the doc and he said that like people babies have their lazy days and sometimes it can be more than a day. He said that depending on where the baby is they could be moving and you could just not be feeling it. I believe that was the case with me, because they were monitoring her and telling me that the wooshes were her kicking and I was surprised that I felt not even a squirm. I would bet that is what is happening. Your baby still has a lot of room to move around in there. If you feel nervous about it I would call the OB to get some reassurance. Good luck!

I am sure everything is ok,but when in doubt call your doctor sweets. My little girl, now 11 had very little movement throughout my whole pregnacy and now she is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo BUSY, you would never know any different. Please do call your doctor to set your mind at ease tho!!! Please keep us posted.

It's scary when the movement slows, but it was like that every few days with Everett too. I'm glad your little guy started boxing again!

I am so glad he started doing his workout.  I think sometimes the baby takes a day off to rest and grow.  It's always good to call the doc when there is a noticeable drop in activity, but usually I think it turns out to be ok.  Better safe than sorry.  I remember once during my pregnancy I realized after a long day at work that I hadn't felt Sophie all day and I was immediately terrified.  I drank the juice, laid on my side, everything, and still nothing.  I started totally crying and panicking.  I called the doctor and they told me to go to L&D to get checked.  Before I got out the door, I felt the baby dancing.  They do like to mess with our minds sometimes.....hugs
