Couple of questions...

My 3rd had her binky until she was 2 and a half.  We went to the dentist and they take the binky and put it in a special "basket" for the little babies and she got to pick a toy for being a big girl.  My husband put the kids in the car before we left for the dentist and took all the other pacis and threw out most and hid one or two for her baby book.  She only asked for them once or twice and we reminded her she gave them to Dr. Dentist and she was like "ok".  It wasnt bad.  As far as the petite little lady, my 6 and a half year old only weighs 36 pounds.  She eats a good amount of food, and very healthy, she is just small.  (gets that from Daddy) I spent 2 years asking the pediatrician what I should do because she was so small and he finally told me to stop comparing her to her sisters and that she is fine and so are they, just different... This is the amazing thing about genes!! :) As long as she is healthy and happy, relax and go buy her tiny little clothes...lol.  Blessings to you and your fam!! -Jen Q

That is nice that the dentist did that for their patients.

I have an almost 11 yr old that weighs only like 56lbs or so.  She is a lot shorter than her almost 10 yr old sister and weighs a lot less than her, too.  Then again, Kaitlyn takes adderall for her ADHD, so that may hinder her as well.  But when she was a little girl, like 4 and under, she had the cutest little pudgy apple cheeks and now she is this skinny little twig... and she likes being thin.  It scares me sometimes that she likes being thin TOO MUCH.

Thanks.

B,
My son is 4 and we are still on the low end of the weight for his age and height. I continue to give him nutrition shakes at least once a day and he seems to be doing good with that. His pedi told me not to change anything. :)

About the binky, Luke didn't use one, however, my friends would have a ceremony or if you have a friend that is having a baby or had a baby. Their child gave the baby their binky's to use. The new baby would never really use it. I don't know if that would work or not. Or have a binky fairy that comes one night and takes them to give to other children who don't have them. Take it or leave it.

Good Luck!!!!

I tried the different nutrition shakes and she won't touch them.  She actually spits them out once she realizes what they are. LOL

Seems like the ceremony is the way too go.  Lots of people have made that suggestion... so it must work.  LOL

Thanks
B

Bridget -

I don't have a lot of helpful input re Syd's size....my son was 9 lb 12 oz when he was born...and about 25 pounds by 6 months...!  Getting him to eat has never been an issue...he likes almost everything...he's 14 now and about the only things he won't eat are raw tomatoes, cooked mushrooms, mushy apples and mushy bananas...and liver.  However, as long as the dr's not worried about her size...I wouldn't worry about it.  Not that it hurts to ask when you take her in for her check up though...but if he says all's well...then I'd assume all's well.

Regarding the binkie...my son loved his binkie.  I had one of those clips that hooked it to him...and when he was asleep, you'd see his hand going around searching for it and popping it back in his mouth.  When he was about 12-13 months old, my DH thought he should give it up...so we went out w/out the binkie...and we stopped and bought one shortly thereafter.  We waited until he was about 18 months old, then we'd let him have it when he was going to bed...and when he was on the verge of being asleep, we'd take it away and hide it.  He could have it again in the morning when he woke up until breakfast, then when he got busy playing, we'd take it away.  He didn't get it at nap time...and only again at bed time.  It took a week or so of doing that...and then he quit looking for it.  I don't know for sure at what age a binkie can mess w/kids teeth - I suspect you have a year or two left to worry about that - but check with your dr just to make sure that whenever you do take it away, it's before it has time to mess w/her teeth.
