First time ever Pregnant, 9 years post op!

Hello All,
I use to be quite a frequent visitor to this site when I was first starting out on my WLS journey, now, I am about to start another one!  I took 3...yes, I know, I didnt really believe the first two...pregnancy test, and they were ALL positive!  It is amazing, I have always been told, that it would be a miracle, if I could ever get pregnant.  Our first doctor's visit is next Tuesday.  It feels like the day will never get here.
I am hoping to maybe hear, but at least, see, the baby's heartbeat that day. I also want to confirm, how many, there might be in there...
One of my major concerns, is how my body is going to adjust to the pregnacy since I have had the weight lost surgery...and my tummy tuck.  I wonder, will I still be considered high risk?  I have so many questions, and so little patience.  :)  How I wi**** was Tuesday already.

Welcome and congrats. WLS does not necessarily make you high risk. Most here see regular ob's and midwifes. No matter who you see though it is really important to keep a good eye on all of your vitamin levels, as baby will take what it needs, but you do not want to become deficient. Some common ones that go low during pregnancy are iron, b-12, folic acid and sometimes D. If you aren't taking a prenatal it is important to start right away as your baby needs the extra folic acid...it helps prevent birth defects. If you are barely pregnant don't be surprised if you don't hear the heartbeat right away...usually that is around 6-7 weeks. There are some gals here that have had TT, I am sure they will chime in on what to expect there. Good luck and stick around...this is a great support system! Shari

Congratulations, wishing you happy healthy 9 months.  I am 4 1/2 post op and I have not had any complications.  I had all my vitamin levels checked when I got pregnant and with the exception of being anemic, my OBGYN prescribed iron 3x daily and I get a b-12 monthly and now my iron levels are where they should be.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Take care,
Fran

Congrats and welcome back!  I hope you have a happy & healthy pregnancy...and get to see the hb Tuesday.

Re being high risk...it's up to your dr if he considers you high risk or not...but in general, WLS patients are not considered high risk.  Even if he did consider you high risk, it usually just means you get a few extra ultrasounds, so that's not necessarily a bad thing...
