OB Visit Today - still no pelvic exam !!

I am 38 weeks 2 days by my OB's date (39 weeks tomorrow by my FMM's date).

I have yet to get a pelvic exam!  strange ?  I mean I'm not complaining because I don't *like* doctors putting their fingers up my woo-hoo, but I expected it today -- to check for dialation, etc.

Other than that all went well -- the baby passed his NST, no sign of contractions on the NST.

I asked my OB about forceps and vac****he was "taught" to use forceps in med school, but stopped using them years ago because he saw more problems being caused by them than being solved.  But on rare occasions he does use the vaccum -- he says only a few times a year.  He's more likely to do a c-section if the baby is lodged or stuck than to try to force them out with suction.  (I am okay with that)

He said if he has to use the vaccum he'll discuss it with me first, etc.

So that conversation made me feel better !  If I don't have the baby in the next week then I will come in 2x a week for NSTs and probably get another ultrasound too.  And we'll start talking induction and a good date.... he won't let me go beyond 41 weeks.

All is well for now.... the baby is pushing on my private areas - sometimes I feel like I might poop hiim out !!  And my pelvic bone feels like it's cracking sometimes....but no steady contractions.

Oh I remember that pelvic bone cracking feeling.  Gosh you are making me enjoy my non-pregnant status at the moment.  I want to have another baby but for right now let me rejoice that my pelvis is not cracking in half.  Oh, I'm sorry, I am not being sensitive to the preggo lady who is about to pop in a week or two!  I'm getting excited for you.  You're almost at the finish line.  One way or another you are going to be holding your baby in LESS THAN THREE WEEKS.  How awesome is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoo hoo!!  All sounds FANTASTIC (except of course for the pelvic bone cracking feeling...damn relaxin! LOL)

Anyway...I would be thrilled not to have an internal, too!  Enjoy it while you can, I say...cause there will be plenty of hands around that area when you are gonna deliver!

My Dr didn't check me until...I want to say the week I was due. I was alarmed when I left my 39 week appointment without "checking" but he said his opinion was that if I was progressing I was ready...and if I wasn't no big deal.  (That is when I wanted to hurt him...I was so DONE) But the day I was due they checked because it was my appointment, and I was like 1cm, etc.  But they scrapped a little....which didn't hurt- just wasn't nice.  But they said hopefully that would help...and my water broke that night.  Good luck...we're excited for you.
