The only thing that helped my DD (now 5) when she was a baby was a vibrating bouncy chair. She slept in it until her feet hung off the edge. The vibration seemed to move some of that gas and the projectile vomiting stopped while she was buzzing away. we move it from the kitchen to the crib to the living room. It was our constant companion. She was either being held upright or in her buzzing chair. The regular bouncy seat didn't work but the vibrating one was a life saver.
This too shall pass. Ask the ped if he can prescribe anything for the reflux.

We went through gas drops, expensive formula, and drugs out the wazoo.
We started with zantac, then reglan, and finally priolosec for both kiddos. Kaitlin had a massive amount of cereal in her formula (enough for a spoon to stay straight up and half would still come up), and also on Nutramigen. Daniel was good with regular formula and a touch of cereal in his formula.
If you want to discuss horror stories, lemme know. I had it with both and it's horrible.

I guess with all the PG issues I had, I naively thought everything would be *better* when the baby finally arrived. I just feel so helpless watching him have such a rough start to his life.
A two-time survivor - you're my hero. I need to embrace the fact that our house smells like baby vomit and find some acceptance. How long before the kids grew out of it? Or did they?
Hugs,

I can relate 100%, I thought I was going to lose my mind. I hope and pray that my second doesn't have it. Nylah was diagnosed with Silent Reflux so if she spit it she swallowed it so we didn't know. When she got diagnosed and was put on Zantac it was a life saver. But that wasn't until 4 weeks old. She cried every evening from 4-9 or 10pm pretty much non stop. That went away when we switched to Good Start Soy - she had started to get a hive like rash and diaper rash so I diagnosed her myself because her ped said it wasn't the formula, well I switched and come to find out she was allergic to milk protein.Good Luck - and I know you know this and it doesn't help but it WILL get better!!
I never knew there was such a thing as silent reflux in babies, ugh! Thanks for sharing what you went through and I too hope your baby is reflux-free. Not too much longer for you!

Jo, I am so sorry you are going through this. My only suggestion is to hold him backward and let your forearm push his stomach before he eats to help air move through. Then after he eats to hold him for 20 minutes or longer. I never layed my kids down flat after eating or even reclined. Things will get better. Riley was by far my fussiest baby and it was so hard that first year but it flies by.
If you need to call and talk I am always available, even in the middle of the night. Paul works midnights so don't worry about waking any one up.
Colic is usually gone by 12 weeks so if it is colic hopefully he is done with it fast.
