Vitamins
I'm with Andrea, Sharon. I'm taking the 25K A as well and my levels are squarely normal for A right about now.
About a year or so ago, one of the gals on Dr. K's yahoo group told us her horror story about Vitamin A. Apparently she followed her OB's advice to go off her Vit A. She started developing night blindness and all that crap, and her baby boy was born with no detectable Vit A in his system! He could have been born permanantly blind! That scared me straight so when I knew that I was going to be getting pregnant, I started in on the Dry A just so that these little ones would get enough. Since it's dry, we just pee out the excess so it's not like we're taking the "bad" A like Andrea said.
I'd stick with the high A & D iffens I was you. I know I am.

Ask me about pregnancy after the Duodenal Switch!
They're here! My surro-sons were born July 21, 2009. Welcome to the world, Benjamin and Daniel. We love you very much!
No, no, no, no, no!
Honestly, your OB has no idea of what your body needs with the surgery you have had. Do NOT stop taking your other vitamins, especially your B vitamins. I would even throw in a couple extra folic acids to be on the safe side of things.
My OB has let me have complete free reign on my vitamins. After turning white as a sheet at the amounts of Dry D and Dry A that I take (all detailed in a letter from my surgeon), he realized that he needed to leave the question of my vitamins in the hands of those more qualified to know what was right and what was wrong for someone like me to take - i.e. my surgeon and myself!
You will be of no use to your baby if you don't get in the vitamins that you need to stay healthy. Imagine what would happen when the baby leeches all those things from you, leaving you nothing! I would not want to be dealing with neuropathy in my limbs while six months pregnant because I stopped taking my vitamins simply on my OB's say-so. They know what a normal pregnant person needs - and you are anything but normal anymore.
Good luck!
