High Risk???
It depends on your doctors. My group of Dr's for the baby did want to keep me high risk in the beginning to monitor my nutrition and the baby's growth. However, that being said having WLS does not automatically make you high risk. My bets are that you are a lot healthier now then prior to WLS. Make sure you take your vitiamins, have your labs monitored. They will already be monitoring the baby's growth. At 2 1/2 years out, your food intake should be great to support a baby, you may need to increase carbs and how frequently you have meals or healthy snacks. Best of luck on a healthy pregnancy.
I am only being sent to the high risk Dr because I can't do the gestational diabetes test and since I have had 3 abdominal surgeries (gastric bypass, appendectomy and gall bladder) they want to monitor things more closely, I am also on Wellbutrin, so poor me (sarcastic! lol) they want to do an ultrasound monthly! lol
That being said WLS doesn't automatically make you high risk - just some OBs will monitor you more closely - which I am all for.
Oh and also - my surgeon told me to make sure that the OB didn't automatically sign me up for a c-section because of my RNY, he said some OBs that are less educated about WLS will want to do that.

Being a WLS patient does not make you a high risk pregnancy as your vajayjay and your stomach have no correlation. There is an issue with absorbtion - so you will have to keep your eye out on your labs and vitamin levels and what not - but no it doesn't automatically put you in a HR category.
Congrats on your pregnancy!!
Congrats on your pregnancy!!
The only reason why I'm considered "high risk" and am seeing a perinatologist in addition to an OB is because these are twins as well as being a surrogate pregnancy. So it's mainly for my intended parents' comfort level not that I've had WLS.
Congratulations on the pregnancy!
