The Big H

I know I talked about this when I was pregnant with the twins, but I cannot remember.  Has anyone had their hemorrhoids removed while pregnant?

I should have had them removed before going through IVF again, but to tell you the truth, I didn't really think about it.   Anyway, let's just say I'm having issues with them now and leave it at that.

Maybe now the bank will get back to us regarding our construction loan because I need to build a bathroom that holds a bathtub.   LOL    After all, it's medically necessary at this point.  I can see the write up now.

Needs tub to soak ass.   I wonder if Blue Cross will cover my home renovations.

No info about doing them while pg...but I know my DH had them removed years ago and they had to put him to sleep (mild sedative)...and I think they hesitate to put you to sleep while pg unless it's an emergency, don't they?  You may just have a a pain in the @$$ for the next few months.

I know my husband found 'relief' for his hem's prior to surgery by having a water house hooked up to the toilet to wash up w/after doing his business rather than toilet paper.  Can you at least hook something up like that?  It's sort of like one of the hoses in your sink to spray off the dishes...if it could be hooked up to warm water, it might help a little..and is a relatively inexpensive 'fix' until you can get it fixed for real.

You may recall my I hate the letter H post whi*****luded all things H...husband, hormones, hot flashes...and...hemorrhoids. I like you waited til 6 weeks post op to get anything resolved but the procedure I had done can be done on a pregnant woman and is prefarably done before the baby gets too big and puts more pressure...especially when turned head down and facing the um...rear area. Basically, the doctor said mine was engorged and the suckers, had two bad ones, were living on their own blood source, or vein and is had developed a sticture causing it to be more painful. They put on a topical anesthetic and then did an injectable and some snipping and I was sent on my way for a high dose prescription numbing med (this you may have to check on for  being preggo) and I felt better in about 3-4 days. I strongly recommend a bowel prep before because I was not given warning and mine was so bad the procedure was done in office that day and of course you know what happened later that day...Starbucks I had treated myself to after being deprived 9+ mths kicked in...needless to say I literally passed out. I would say go now and not later and hope all my TMI helps.

tub soaks help but honestly I was using the cream that numbs and such all through while pregnant..it helps big time..but I was so reluctant to do a suppository..sticking it up my bumm well..didn't t seem fun..I actually was in sooo much pain i tried..couldn't get it in or felt funny so stopped then re tried again about  30 minutes later out of desperation.. I have to say it really worked I was better almost instantly..

Seriously Julie,

I know this a serious topic but the way you phrase things makes me pee my pants.  You always find humor in the worst of situations.  Hope the flare up settles down soon!!  Do the Tucks work?

Hope otherwise all is well!

I don't know about doing an actual hemorrhoidectomy, but there are certainly other things you can do. If you have a thrombosed (has a blood clot and is VERY painful) hemorrhoid they can lance it and that helps a lot, all they have to do is inject some lidocaine first. Another option is to use something called Proctofoam - this stuff works WONDERS on painful/inflamed hemorrhoids and is safe to use while pregnant (it is a prescription). I've also heard that a procedure called infrared coagulation helps, but apparently different docs have different opinions on that.
