Airplane Travel with Infant
Grace was 11 months when we flew to Hawaii.
I would ask for bulk head seat,,more room for you..and hopefully that 3rd seat wont be occupied:-0
also you dont have to fold up your stroller.I was able to push hers right to the gate and onto the plane.. they then lifted the infant car seat out of the travel system stroller and I buckeld that into the air plane(make sure its FAA approved 1st) then they(workers) stash that stroller back under the plane and have it again for you as you walk off the plane..sooo convenient
Grace barfed cause I was feeding her allot on a landing and her ears were hurting..so she ended up throwing up(not fun) all over..so a change of clothes for you both just in case... maybe 2 changes for the baby...
My friend a flight attendant said Tiger balm put behind the ears helps..no clue why..but I did it for all flights and didnt on the last one at landing when she threw up..so manybe thats why she got sick?? no clue..
I did take a baby bjorn harness carrier thing....was great for the airport and traveling.. they wont allow it on the airplane(with the baby in it).
best of luck
tricia .

Thank you! But I have no idea what Tiger Balm is :( Sorry....would love to try it.....
I will be checking the carseat as I did not buy him a seat....but dang on the bjorn thingy...was thinking of bringing mine :( I hope I can push my stroller through....the ATL airport is very tough...it makes me mad that with everything with the FAA airports still have diff rules....
I wanted to wear the baby during the flight in the carrier... thinking since I didn't purchase a seat at least she was buckled to me and i was in a seat belt..seemed safer knowing that if in an accident a person can go flying... but they said no.. grr. why?? have no clue..probably a legal issue..so you cant wear it but can bring it...
tiger balm you can get at walmart/target..its in the medicine isle,..its like a mental creme thing..ask the pharmacist... you just put a dab behind his ears right before take off/landing.. again no clue how or why this works only my friend who is a flight attendant swears by this and said all her co workers carry this just in case....
the stroller should be fine.. call ahead and see what the airline says..

I may try the carrier and see if they give me grief....one of my concerns is I can sleep so well on a plane....I may fall asleep and do not want to drop him...ugh...lol....
I am going to go get me some tiger balm....thank you again....had never heard that so I am very glad you pointed that out.....
I used to fly all of the time before I had Nathan....it will all be new now.....oh well....I will work my way through it....am sure....

I've always heard you should feed the baby during takeoff and landing to prevent the pain and screaming from pressure in their ears. That's my only advice, but you probably already knew that. I will be keeping an eye on this post so I can gather advice because I will be flying with Sophie (and hubby) in a couple months too.
Thank you....he is pretty studly and I am his proud older sister....I just found out today that Matt Lauer from the TODAY show will be the guest speaker at the Undergrad Class Day....DANGIT...since Jon is Graduate school...ugh...oh well...I may try to still find him to take a pic :) love that man :)
Where you heading on the plane?
