Airplane Travel with Infant
So, Nathan and I are trudging off for our first airplane trip in a week and a half....we are heading to Boston to see my little brother receive his MBA and MPP (Masters in Public Policy) from Harvard. I am so proud of him! Nate is not able to go with us so it is mommy and Nathan...luckily the flight is direct and only about 2.5 hours....he will be almost 7 months....he does awesome in his car seat and car....but we will be brave and try flying...I think my girlfriend will be driving us and picking us up to save on the drama at the parking garage....but any other advice?
TIA :)
TIA :)
The best I can tell you - assuming it hasn't changed much since my son was a baby - is to give him a bottle when the plane is going up and down. The sucking AND swallowing together will help his ears pop, making it much more comfortable for him. He'll probably sleep like a baby (pun intended) in flight because of the 'white noise' from the airplane.

im flying with jayson in the next month or so...ill be with my dad .. ( jaysons gramps)... so that will help... i guess give them something to suck on when you fly/land... small toys... wine for you... and all will be fine.. i plan on taking my stroller.. that way i dont have to carry him all over the airport... plus that will give me an extra place to put stuff... he will be sitting on my lap... i tried to pick flight times that go with his nappy times... on the way home i picked a 6 pm flight... let me know how it goes LOL
wow....should have thought about nap time flying :) but Nathan will sleep whenever :) he is like his mommy and daddy.....like I just tried to take a nap while he sat there and babbled and played in the crib....i got some zzzzz's in :) LOL....but will be up all night...lol.....
Thanks for the ideas on sucking on take off and landing too.....Holly mentioned that and I will for sure do that....I am for sure bringing the stroller too.....and someone said a backpack....a friend who just flew alone said the hardest part was getting stroller folded up to go through security while holding a baby and carryon....so I will make friends with someone in line is my plan :) In Boston on the way home my family will be leaving at the same time.....
And of course my dad joked that I will likely dress Nathan up in a pilots suit for the flight...so if you have seen any, let me kmow....would not want to let my pops down :) lol
Where you going again?

Nylah was 7 months old when we flew from CT to AL it was fine, I gave her a bottle at take off and she fell asleep. I brought the toys she played with most and she did fabulous. I kind of planned it around her nap times. I wish that we didn't have a connector flight, would have been easier but I did it by myself and it was not that bad at all.
whenever we have flown with our kids we make sure we woke them up earlier. So that when it came time to get to the airport and such they were tired when we got on the plane and more than likely napped. Once they got older we got toys and did headsets for music and some travel games.
My best advice is to just go with flow. I do give my daughter some benedryl when we fly only because she gets carsick and things like that. We usaully stop on car rides every 1 or so to let her breath. She still hasnt grown out of it.
