nt scan

I had the NT with my last pregnancy because if the baby needed special attention at birth I wanted the right docs and nurses and treatment in general on hand.  A lot of times a child with downes has heart problems so I think if you can find out ahead of time that is the best for the baby.  I didnt do it because I had any intention of terminating the baby.  I thought it was the best for the baby.  I wish you all the best!! Do not stress it if you can, it is just a tool that can be used for the good of your pregnancy. 

I had the test done it is just a normal u/s as far as what happens they are just more advanced as mentioned they measure the folds of skin at the back of the baby's neck, I was worried as I am 39 and it was perfectly fine. If I remember correctly anything under the number 3 is normal and they took three or more  different pics  of the baby and all was fine. They also did blood work at that time too! My highest of the three numbers was 1.6!

I did this test as there is no harm to you or the baby and there is really nothing to worry about it if it comes back positive then there are more tests that you can do but if comes back negative you can breathe easier!

After talking with my OB and the specialist this was by far the easiest of all the test and a very good place to start.

Try to relax it really is a very simple test and lets you see your baby an extra time!!

I totally agree with everyone else. 
I also had the sonogram done but I delined on the blood work.  All will be great with the babies.

its actually a really cool detailed scan... they look at the amount of fluid in the babies neck... the take some blood that day.. then  2 weeks later you give more blood... and about a week later they give the results :)... i had this done... all was fine.. baby is healthy :) 

I did it because I was 39 yo but was not planning on the amnio....it was simple, got great pics and all turned out fine....most people have an option to decline the test.....

I asked my us tech about the NT scan during my ultrasound at 10.5 weeks and she said "oh, I'm doing that right now"  WUH?  Ok!  She only got one of the babies and said everything looked fine.  Baby B was being a booger and kept looking at us head-on instead of giving us a profile.  So they didn't get him.  But they never did take my blood.  They said they'd do that at my next appt at 15 weeks.  He's a new ob to me...I have no idea if this is all normal or not!  LOL!
