Anybody ever had a pannilectomy done before? If so, how was your recovery? I'm asking because my mama just got approved for hers but she has to get it done before my baby is due but she wants to be there for the birth. So I'm just wondering is the recovery that bad?

I just had one done in Dec.  I was off work for 7 weeks, but really felt much better after about 3-4 weeks. The first 2 weeks were definitely uncomfortable and I mainly rested and walked around a little bit.  I wasn't released to lift anything till 5 weeks after surgery.

Overall it wasn't a bad recovery, I was sore and tired and had to get over the trauma of major surgery.

I had in March of 2008. I was up and around the night of my surgery. I was off work for 2 weeks and then went back. I work in an office and it wasn't that bad. I had a 3 year old and didn't have much time to rest. It was not near as bad as my RNY. I had open so I thought the panni was a piece of cake actually. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I just had mine done two months ago and had a breast lift done at the same time as well. I was up and moving about that same day and back home the next morning. I was back to work less than a week later and taking care of my 7 month old son soley by myself within 4 or 5 days after my surgery. I had help with me for those first 4 or 5 days and then I sent them all home because I felt like I didn't need them there anymore. There were times I was in pain, but for the most part, it was a cinch. I'd do it again in a second!
