Did you have your HCG levels checked? What were they?

No, I did not have ny levels checked.  The last time I had them done I was 2144 then 2 days later they re tested and I was 6190.  Now that was a couple weeks ago.

I know how stressful it is to spot...I spotted and even bled from thanksgiving straight through to christmas in every shade of red and brown and was terrified because i'd just lost a baby a few months before...but my bean hung on and i've got a beautiful, outrageous 22 month old now.  btw, my numbers never exactly doubled...i was always just shy of that number and they *****ed me like a pin cushion for several weeks because of all the spotting.

as early as you are, it is iffy that they would see a heartbeat, so an US, which is internal at this stage, is risky and the benefits are questionable so I understand them wanting to wait a week or two to try one...

your numbers are good...and spotting at this stage is usually implantation bleeding or irritation from an exam or sex.  not to say that this is always the case (they couldn't ever determine what caused my bleeding)...but I'm just trying to say that i hope you don't stress too much because it could be that the bleeding is just your body adjusting to the pregnancy and shedding old material.   I hope that is all it is.  i think your numbers jumped too much for it to be a miscarriage or threatened miscarriage, at this point (not an expert, but my opinion)...

I checked several websites and your numbers are well within the average for 5wks 3 days...
http://babymed.com/faq/Content.aspx?14374 is a link that gives a fairly detailed list by day past LMP so it should give you some comfort.

On a strange note...one of the articles on this site mentions that the HCG levels for boy fetuses are lower than girl fetuses (Never heard that one before) but maybe it just means you've got a boy bean in there! LOL.

Rest, stress as little as possible and let us know what the next group of numbers say!

Hey Jackie,

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this worry and waiting - BTDT and it sucks!

HCG *acceptable* levels have a HUGE variance. You are well within those levels and the significant increase is the most promising sign of a viable PG, NOT the numbers themselves.

I have had 3 mc's and my levels didn't increase more than a few 100 points each time. With my Successful pg's, my levels NEARLY doubled in 72 hours. But if you compared my week 6 HCG with PG#1 to PG#3, the numbers were really different, does that make sense?

Basically, in my humble lay opinion, your levels are great and indicate a very viable PG!

Hang in there and try to remember my mantra, TODAY you are pregnant and TODAY you should celebrate.

Hugs, thoughts and prayers,

Jo

I know you have seen my posts about spotting, not find the hb...so I won't bore you with that...but I believe any pregnant woman (who fully understands that pregnancy is a gift) knows that it could end anytime.  So-that being said..try to enjoy your time pregnant, and go through their tests and follow their suggestions.  My biggest encouragement to you is that my HCg never doubled like the "textbook" answer suggests...it just went up significantly from one test to the next-like yours did.  Headup, and we all are sending lots of positive vibes.  Perhaps they will be open to the idea of u/s if you tell them it would help you feel better.  If I remember right my RE said 5,000-8,000 to start looking at the pregnancy by u/s.

On Tues we saw a Gestational Sac. It was to early to see a heartbeat. They just wanted to see my HCG go higher than it has...This is so hard.
