Table food, etc?
My daughter will be 7 months on Saturday. When is a good time to introduce table foods, like cheese, crackers, mac&cheese, etc? She is really interested in what we eat, so I figured she would enjoy these type of foods. She already has 2 teeth on the bottom. Any thoughts?

I forgot to mention she'll eat the stew out of some Gerber puffs (banana and peaches are her favorites.)

As you know all kids are different and ready for table foods at different times. Both my daughters are so oppiste of each other. My oldest daughter, Savannah loved all table foods at 8 months old! She was off baby food and on table food by 9 months. She still had her formula too though. Savannah could eat just about everything we ate and with no teeth! She didn't get teeth until she was over 12 months old. Baby Skyler only eats Ritz crackers and HATES all other table food. She loves baby food and formula. She is 7 1/2 months old and has 1 tooth. So see.....all kiddos are different!
Just try a few things slowly. No honey, eggs, peanut butter until they are over 12 months old. Don't give her anything she can coke on while you are not sitting with her. Finger foods are good at that age.

Hi Ash... I was hoping you would reply. Skyler and Kayleigh are so close in age, I guess I just wanted to compare. Do you give Skyler the whole Ritz cracker and just let her have at it? I have only pinched of some of a cracker and crumbled it in Kayleigh's mouth for her to eat, but thats about it. Oh and while I was on vacation last weekend, I got home to find out that my parents had given Kayleigh a bite of scrambled eggs with milk and cheese in them. I was shocked but they said she did really well with it and loved them! No allergic reaction. My son loves scrambled eggs. So, with that one bite, does that mean she's not allergic to them? Or would it take more than that to get a reaction? What about cheese? We have that 2% sliced american cheese alot at the house and was wondering if that would be okay? It has cow's milk in it. Lord knows I don't need any hospital bills right now so I wondering if that would be okay... lol.

My DD Ped told us last visit (around 8 months) to start letting her have things that we have within reasonable limits..nothing to hard, etc. We have let DD have cheese (small amounts) pretty much what we eat..cut small and she has loved most of it except egg. (Like her mom!) She loves yogurt. We tried things that most would have allergies to very slowly (especailly because of my history with lactose). So far so good. Chicken is her favorite no matter if it's grilled, boiled, fried (she had chicken finger insides)....she loves chicken. Good luck, have fun with it.
Edit: I forgot to say that Sophie has 4 uppers and 3 lowers for teeth...working on two more uppers..yikes! But she absolutely has to have small bites even with those teeth..or she chokes...I think she has a sensative swallow reflex because she won't take a fast nipple at 10 months old..she still prefers slow...So each kiddo is so different.

My daughter is almost 8 months old and LOVES her graham crackers. I have also given her ritz crackers, banana and yogurt. I am not sure I would be giving her anything else at this point in time, partially because she has NO teeth at all. I give her a half of a square of graham cracker and she will eat that all up and then wants another. She has choked once but nothing too bad. They dissolve really fast with their saliva. The ritz crackers don't dissolve quite as fast. The banana I gave her while I was holding it. I had been eating it and she wanted some so I figured why not. She can actually bite chunks off though so I won't give it to her unless it is one of those mesh bag feeders they have. I am still a little iffy on giving her cheese or milk or anything.
Oh and she loves the puffs but for the longest time she had a difficult time getting them in her mouth on her own so she would just feed them to her big sister (a 70lb boxer).
