Vitamins after baby!!

Before pregnancy I was on a sublingal b-12 every other day. During my routine blood work my b-12 always showed low.  Once I got pregnant my OB doctor kept me on it.   However, I was not as diligent with it.  Now that she is born I am breastfeeding.  Should I continue to take the b-12?   I am really tired lately and I am sure I am low.  Has anyone else run into this issue?  Does it transfer directly to breastmilk?  I am 4 years out RNY and that is the only supplement I take in addition to a pre-natal.  Thanks so much for all the help on this board, it's a lifesaver!!!!

You ONLY take a B-12 and a single prenatal?

You NEED to be taking 2000mg of calcium citrate a day.  You probably also need some iron, B-vites (through a B-complex), B-12 EVERYDAY, Dry Vite D3, and a 2nd multivite.

Please go and get a full blood panel.  I'd guess you are low on a number of things.

yeah I was going to say you should be taking calcium citriate supplements, in addition to your prenatal and your b12's!  I take 500 mg's three times a day of Citrical calcium.   Start taking some CC right away so your body doesn't keep taking it from your bones and/or teeth!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

Thanks for the answers.  Do you think I can manage all of this with my regular PCP?  I am 4 years out and my surgery doctor is 2 hours away.  I know my regular doctor would run a panal no problem.  So you guys are taking all of these vitamins while breastfeeding with no problem?

Really, the only vitamin you have to be truly worried about is Vitamin A in the form of acetate or palmitate.  Beta carotene is fine and isn't dangerous at all.

But yeah.  On my profile is a list of common labs postop.. take it in and ask your PCP to run them.  Then look at the results.
