Congrats on passing the glucose test and being 26 weeksn!! My OB said Gastric patients shouldn't do the glucose test so I won't have to do it. He said to many people haven't had diarrhea or puked b/c of it. And it ruins the testing and has to be redone over and over. I am happy I heard that stuffs terrible!!

Oh I had the diarrhea believe me! if you puke it's no good but diarrhea is okay! It didn't start until after the blood draw thank goodness! And yes it is terrible!! But it's over thank goodness and it's good  your OB is familiar with WLS!!

Congrats on passing! You tolerate sugar much better than I do! Sorry about the anemia...do you like iron-rich foods and take a supplement? I've been big into beef in this pregnancy. When I say "big," I mean I eat about 5 servings a week of lean beef (mostly organic ground beef which I find very tasty) instead of 1 or 2. This is a huge increase consdering I DON'T even care for beef all that much.

You are a trooper for taking the glucose test. I (personally) know I could not handle it and would presumably pass out and fail anyhow. I have the official "reactive hypoglycemia" diagnosis already on top of the distal RNY GBS. Two different docs (my OB and my GBS surgeon) have instructed me not to take it, given my personal medical history.

I do eat beef but not enough I guess!
As for the test I thought for sure I would get deathly ill like I do when I eat like cake or something but for some reason I didn't thank goodness, I did get the shakes a tiny bit but none of the other symptoms I usually get with too much sugar just diarrhea and luckily they had already done my blood draw so I was in the clear!! Good you don't have too take it!!

I was super excited when I passed mine too - my iron was also in the crapper! I have to go for a repeat test this week to see if the iron has improved..... it not, iron IV therapy for me :( I hope it has, I have been taking supplements and drinking like GALLONS of Odwalla Superfood! LOL!

Beth,

So glad to hear that you passed the GTT!!!  I on the other hand FAILED!  So I have to do the 3 hour GTT!  However, last night I was sent to L&D because I was have contraction like pains.  Hooked me up and watched the monitors and said that I have an Irritable Uterus.  Great not only am I irritable but so is my uterus.  It basically just means I have contraction like pains that are false.  OB said when I get them to lay down for 2-3 hours and drink tons of water and if that doesn't stop them then I need to go to L&D.  So after about 4 hours of monitoring and fluids they sent me home.  Feeling good now but he told me bed rest for the next few days.  Not strict but just laying around as he called it!

Oh yeah and 26 weeks....WOOT WOOT!!!  Its going so fast!!  Keep up feeling well!

Talk to you soon

Yeah Beth!!! That is such good news! I hope I don't have to take it!! I am hypoglycemic and I can just imagine what will happen to me...my OB is familiar with GBS patients so I shouldn't have to hopefully...
