life has imploded....

So I haven’t been around for the past couple of days…. My life has literally imploded.

No, I haven’t lost the baby. THANK GOD. As that is the only thing keeping me positive at all right now.

My company recently went through some management changes. My Boss went out on pregnancy leave and the evil woman that they hired to cover for her went through and pretty much cleaned house of anyone with tenure. They technically fired only two, but “forced resignations" out of three more. Pretty much everyone who has been with the company longer than I have had been pushed out.

I work in Direct Care for Adults with developmental disabilities; I “am" a residential supervisor (house manager) for the company. I “have" a particularly hard house since the ladies they have placed in it HATE each other and pretty much everyone. Ever since the new admin came into play I have had way more problems than I ever had before (none). So I went to them several times over the last 6 months and plenty of times over the past year about the problems between the ladies that I work with. They really should not be living together. They constantly abuse each other in one way, shape or form, and are manipulative and even physically abusive to staff. I RECEIVED NO HELP.

The new administrator’s best friend got hired by an outside company, Service Coordination, to be kind of like a “social worker" for the most manipulative of the housemates.

So yesterday, I got called into a disciplinary hearing and told that I scream at the ladies. That I am the reason for all of the problems in the home and that since the service coordinator wrote a letter, they have to do something about me.

I HAVE NEVER SCREAMED AT A CLIENT! And I guarantee that I am not the problem, as problems have continued when I am not there.

Thankfully I was able to refute most of their “trumped up" claims of neglect and abuse and they couldn’t fire me. HOWEVER, I have been “demoted". I either find another job, while 5 ½ months pregnant or I can stay on in a CLA (bottom of the totem pole) position and take a huge pay cut.

Here is the worst part, I live at work. I live in the basement of the house that I work in. So now I have no idea what kind of income I will still have, and no place to live. I have 30 days to be out. I carry our health insurance so I have to try and maintain that. My husband makes just enough to cover our bills as they stand, but not adding another. I have no idea how I am going to do this.

How am I supposed to find somewhere to live knowing that in September I will not be working for a minimum of 6 weeks?

I know that God will provide. I just don’t know how and I wish he would hurry his timing up. I have to be out by June 19th.

I would file every complaint possible on them with the government and state resources! Do they receive Medicare & Medicaid?  Sounds as if alot of "Shady" activity on there part.

Check into your state resources as far as Medicaid and WIC services go..........just in case it is needed (Be prepared). You may qualify, they have higher income limits for pregnant women.

JMO:  Stay there at the low position until you have the baby, get a Part time server/hostess job if need be.......something.  Dont quit, if they are this much of asses they will try to find some reason to fire you. Stick it out until they do fire you and hopefully you can receive Unemployment and that will help out your finances.

Have faith that things will turn around and stay positive at work.

I plan to stick it out as long as possible. I kiss @ss with the best of them if need be. Not going to like it, but I have to do what I have to for the baby. I am WAY overqualified for a CLA position, but that just means that I can do it way better than anyone else.

I do have to tread lightly as this is exactly what they have done to everyone else. I think the only reason I am still here is because I am pregnant and they already have one lawsuit going for firing someone while they were out on FMLA leave for pregnancy. They may be evil, but they are not dumb.

Thanks for the advice. Hubby is freaking out. I am not opposed to using the system (WIC, FS, etc) if need be. I have certainly paid into it alot!

OMG, that is awful, Victoria!  I'm so sorry you're going through all of this right now.  Can you say, STRESS?!

I agree with Heather, seek out a governing agency, a higher-up, whatever powers that be and make a paper trail of your own.  Document every single thing.  Pull up all your past reviews, compliments, anything that puts the positive back on your side.  Are the family members of the residents involved in their care?  Can you get documentation from them that says there are behavioral issues beyond supervision?  Arm yourself, so to speak.  If you have access to it, pull up records on the previous residential supervisor - or any type of documented past issues that indicate this "house" is the problem, and not the supervision style.   It really sounds like she is doing her best to get you to resign as well.  It's a sticky area because firing a pregnant employee can be questioned as discriminatory unless there are real proven reasons (gross misconduct).

In the meantime, take a deeeeeeep breath and take it one issue at a time.  Sounds like the first thing is that you need a place to live.  Tackle that one step at a time and do your best to stay where you are for the next few months, as much as that may/will suck.

If all else fails, puke all over the woman and then blame it on the "pregnancy".  If she lets you go because of that, then you have grounds to sue

Hugs,

That's really the thing. I never had problems until Leslie showed up in January. Honestly I think she is prejudiced against fat people.

Little comments and the way she looks at me and then she found out I had gastric bypass, they only got worse. But there's nothing I can substanciate. The service coordinator that worte the letter works out with her everyday at the gym. They were overheard discussing me and my clients (which you are not allowed to do and is a firable offense) by a few of my friends when they were working out one night.

So I defended myself well... but there was no way they were going to leave me alone. Atleast I still have a job at all... although right now I don't know what it is or anything.

They most definately want me to quit, but that's not happening until after Tristan comes. And definately not until I have a new job to go into.

I figure out the living thing some how. My family will take us in... they just don't have room until the twins leave for college in august.

God will provide. Of that I am certain.

I don't have any advice, just wanted to let you know that I am thinking and praying for you.  I am so sorry that you are having to deal with so much stress, esp. during your pregnancy.

Thanks I need prayer right now!

God will provide in his infinate timing... my patience is just the problem.

My family won't let us go homeless or anything... but they don't have any room until the twins leave for college this fall.

I just keep telling myself that "Tristan is all the matters. He's still alive and that's all that matters"

Thanks for the prayers.

Oh boy that competely sucks.  If you stay on as the CLA, can you stay in the house?

Are there people above this that you can contact?    Seems to me you have plenty of ammunition to at least get this reviewed (the relationship hiring, etc).

I'm so sorry this is happening to you - God knows you don't need that stress.  wishing you plenty of luck and patience.  Oy.

No, I have to move. It pretty much sucks all around. I have watched this happen to a bunch of people and did what I could to stop it and that plus other reasons is why i think I am being targeted right now.

The "big" boss is in her pocket and the letter from the service coordinator is pretty much a sealed deal. Even if I could prove it was corrupt, they'd fire me asap anyways.

At this point I think duck and cover is going to be my strategy.

Wow!!!  That  is so messed up.  Can I tell you to do all you can and then just stand and trust God?  I know these are extremely difficult economic times - we must stay positive believing that there is something for us.

No matter how messed up things have gotten for people, no one has ever fell off of the face of the earth.  This is not to say that things may not be rough for awhile.  There is always a better day (this may sound like a back door blessing, but you are living, breathing, you can see, hear, walk - have all of your limbs etc YOU HAVE A GREAT CHANCE OF SURVIVING THIS BS!!!).  Take action, BUT first take care of yourself.  Because of your state right now -beautifully preggo, your man has got to hustle a bit more - sorry, he just does.  You will get through this.

God Bless,
Leila
