Making Infant Food
Okay...I need some help....I am considering starting to make Nathan his own food versus buying...I need suggestions and ideas and where to start....I thought I would take the easier way out by just buying but am thinking I may want to try making some too...I have seen several of you post about how you make the food....I am sorry I am so ignorant here but wondering if any of you have suggestions of where to begin....
TIA....smoochies!

I always just fed them whatever DH and I where having for dinner. If I was making say, BBQ chicken, I would just grill their chicken with no sauce, then toss that with whatever veggies we where having and maybe a little BM or formula into the baby food blender.
I would put all leftovers into an ice cube tray and freeze them, then pop them out and store them in freezer bags, this way I could grab a cube or two for a serving if we where having something that I knew the babies would not like or if we where going to be on the go for the day.
I would also do fruits this way, for breakfast or as a treat after dinner or lunch.

This is very helpful....am sure he will like it....now, here is my next stupid question....I am not getting the whole ice cube tray thing....so you just pour the mixture in there, freeze it and then heat it up when you need to use it? Sorry for sounding so dumb....
Also, did you have to bring to daycare...I am trying to figure that one out too....
Thanks so much

Yep, just take the left overs and pour it right into the ice cube tray, cover it with plastic wrap and freeze it. Once frozen I would pop it out just like you would ice cubes for a drink, and put them in a labled plastic baggy so I could keep track of what I had. Each cube was a perfect portion for when they where smaller, and then as they got bigger I would defrost two cubes for each kid.
I did not have to do daycare, but for traveling I had gerber bowls with lids, I would just stick one or two cubes in the bowl and take it with us, but the time I needed it it was usually thawed out. I am not big on using the micro to heat food, so I would just toss the bowl with the lid still on it into a bowl of warm water (or run it under ho****er in the sin****il warm), but the Gerber bowls are micro safe, so you can always just toss them in there to warm them up at daycare!

The simples one are of course soft foods like banana, berries, avocado, potato, etc because you can just mash them up and good to go. Emad loved sweet potatoes. I would bake them in the oven and the got really sweet and mashed them and they were great. I would add mix ins like peas or carrots as well. For those I just steamed or did a light boil and good to go. I ruled out allergies by trying one at a time and then did the mix ins. Apples are easy too. I would just core and half them, bake in oven and then scoop and mash. You can add cinnamon as well if he likes it.
The meats I also baked or grilled with no salt and then diced and blended. As he gets older you can try new flavors and mix ins. I would boil potatoes or veggies in low sodium chicken or beef stock and that he really liked. It is all pretty simple and fresh or frozen are fine. Hope that helps.
