Scared but trying to not panic

Honestly, sounds like a damaged doppler. They are sensitve and one drop could cause an issue, just because it can pick up your heartbeat does not mean it's going to find the little one which is going to be harder to find even with a perfectly working doppler! I can completely understand where you are coming from because I am paranoid about every little thing with this pregnancy, and this situation would totally freak me out! Sending thoughts a prayers your way, and keeping everything crossed that you get perfect news at your checkup!

Oh and I forgot to mention the fact that if your placenta is in the front of the uterus, it will act like a pillow and prevent sound from coming though, especially if your doppler is damaged.

Sounds like your doppler may have been dropped.  I'm sure you'll hear that beautiful heart pounding away tomorrow!!

I also had a m/c and was so nervous with my subsequent pregnancy and got a doppler...here are some tips I was told by my midwife...1. once you see/hear a heartbeat the chance of m/c drops dramatically, 2. make sure you are using enough gel with the doppler.  3. like another poster said, if the placenta is cushioning you will have a hard time hearing.  You can hear your heartbeat, but my kids have a fisherprice toy stethescope and you can hear my heartbeat with that, so perhaps your doppler is damaged.  I am sending you all good thoughts for tomorrow.  I admire that you can wait, I would have driven the OB nuts untlil they got me in today!! Blessings to you! -Jen

I actually had a doppler thing when I was pregnant with my son. It was VERY difficult for me to use it because my placenta was in the front of my belly... like covering my belly button... and I just had to trust in God to protect my baby. He was a gift from God so I just had to trust... because I couldnt do anything to reassure myself that I was STILL pregnant....

Good luck tomorrow... let us know :-)

The position of the baby greatly affects the accuracy of those machines.  I wouldn't take it as a reason to panic and pregnancy symptoms often subside during the second trimester  Hang in there.
