Help! Son won't take medicine
My son who is 2, has strep throat and a swollen lymph node. The doctor prescribe a strong anti-biotic and warned me that it taste terrible. She said I could mix it. I just tried giving it to him with juice and he vomited all over. Anyone have any good suggestions on how to get this medicine in him???
Thank you.
Thank you.
Poor little guy! With him vomiting i would personally call the Doctors office and fill them in. You could also call the pharmacist and as for suggestions. I know most pharmacies will now ad a flavoring to liquids for the kiddos for a small extra fee. My son would never even take those , he would just smell it and shutter all over. My son is the same way and he is 9 yrs old. Thank goodness he will swallow pills!
Call the pharmacy and see if they come in suppository. I had a few children that would not take medicine. It was actually easier to do tylenol in suppository then trying to get them to take it orally. I wonder if you gave him a popsicle dipping it in the medicine every few bites if he would take it.
Mixing medicine in food never worked for us not matter what we did.
Good luck! I am blessed now with kids who beg for tylenol. They run fevers when they get teeth. My 4 year old with all her teeth tells me she is growing new teeth and running a fever at least once a month just because she wants it. I was blessed with these 2 after enduring the torture of trying to medicate my older ones who forced themselves to vomit it up.

I have managed to disguise a few things...we've *forced* a few things (and felt horrible afterwards) and he's had antibiotic shots as well.
good luck
