HCG LEVEL?

I got my results of my HCG. Levels were only 23.4?? I have to go back monday.

I don't know if this is normal. But the nurse said they were low. I'm worried.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I will be camping with family all weekend...hopefully I can keep my mind off of it.

Thanks!

The levels of HCG varies GREATLY.  You just found out your were pregnant, right?  So you are probably only 4 weeks or so along.  At 4 weeks, your HCG can be between 5 and 426.  I was in the same boat as you, I had positive HPT's then had my blood drawn when I was 4 weeks along.  My HCG was in the 140's the the doctor said that shows 'early pregnancy' and wanted me to have my blood redrawn. I drove myself crazy, worrying. I had it done 3 days later and it went up to 684!  Your levels should at least double every 2 to 3 days.  If your numbers do that next week, then you are right on track.

I know how you are feeling, you were me 2 weeks ago.  :o)  You may have just caught your pregnancy REALLY early on.  Good luck, and try to not think about it.  Good luck on Monday, and keep us posted.

I had my HCG checked with my first pregnancy because I had some spotting.  I was told they were low and to come back in two days... so I did... then I was told to come back again in two more days... I did and was told I had a blighted ovum and to schedule a D&C with my OB.

When I got to the OB she did a quick ultrasound and there was my little bean with a heart beat and all was good!  that little bean is now my sassy 5 1/2 year old son Michael.

Moral of the story... stop getting the blood test.  HCG levels vary SOOOOO greatly there really isn't much good in doing it and I think it just causes undue stress...  after all what will happen will happen.  Sometimes they stick and sometimes they don't....  but stress isn't going to help.  I've had a MC so I know how stressful pregnancy can be after having one and how desperate one can feel to want to KNOW everything is coming along normally but really... just wait out the 6-8 weeks that most docs want you to wait prior to your appointment... then they do the ultrasound and you'll see the heart beat.

If you have a history of multiple MC's and you need progesterone then I say you should be doing that regardless of the HCG levels but honestly the levels can vary so much and even if you have normal levels that doesn't mean something wont happen... as my doc said to me at one time he can't guarentee any pregnancy will make it to term... no one can do that.

Not trying to scare you or make you feel bad but I see so many ladies on this board that go and get the blood tests done and it just brings up memories of my first pregnancy with Michael and how stressed I was for no good reason.

good luck!  just relax and enjoy being pregnant.

My HCG was only 52 the day I was due for my period (around CD28).    I can't tell you not to be worried, because I was scared.   They kept checking and my level and everytime the numbers doubled.    I'm sure yours will do the same!
Congrats!

Doubling is what is important.  You are 12 - 14 DPO based on your chart...and that number is fine.  I would get it rechecked to make sure it is doubling properly, though.

Have your tests been getting darker since the other day?

Congratulations on your positive HCG! I am sure your numbers will double nicely. You had the HCG drawn just finding out and your numbers seems to be in the right range.

I can't wait to hear your next result.
Keep us posted and try to relax. I know easier said than done.
