I was going to recommend Belly Laughs too!  It is such a light hearted approach to the very real issues in pregnancy.. lol.

I'm with the other three gals...The Pregnancy Week by Week book is GREAT!!  I lost my copy that I had from my daughter so I've bought it twice!  I like to see the pics and it isn't as alarmist as the What to expect books.  However, I do recomend getting the what to expect books that come after pregnancy.  You can't be too alarmist when you have a lil one...they will always top anything that's in the book!!   Happy Shoping!!

Just wanted to put this out there for anyone who has insurance with State Farm. State Farm has a book that agents can order for their customers called Caring for your baby and young child-Birth to Age 5. It's only 6.00 for the agents to buy (retails for 20.00). You can contact your agent and ask them to order it for you.  I can't speak for other agent but we wouldn't charge our customer. Our agent would take care of the 6.00. I think most would. The order number for the agent is N-24855 just in case they can't find it. Hugs..Melanie

If this is the one by AAP, it is an awesome book.  With 4 kids, 4yrs and under, I refer to it at least 1 time per week.

God Bless! Jen

I really like the pregnancy week by week and Girlfriend's Guide to pregnancy. I am probably of the minority but I had to have the What to expect books taken away from me because I was such a worry wart. That book freaked me out. I usually would break out the baby doppler after reading it just to get a sense that everything was still ok in there. Like I said though I was extremely paranoid with my second pregnancy after having a miscarriage. I needed something lighthearted and upbeat. I do think that getting a baby book is a great idea as well. You won't have time to read it after the baby is here so you might as well cramm now :)

hugs!

I have what to expect book- I HATE it- it scares the crap out of me...Then my OB office gave me one too....but she told me the sections to avoid if "your a worrier".  Nice....she caught on I guess. I probably flinched when she showed it to me.  I think I might go get one of the funny books...I like funny...I also like the idea of TMI- that was there are no surprises...and then I don't have to post TMI-BUT - on this board...it might save us all.  I definately need on on how to care for a baby...seriously, I have helped a little here and there, and when my SIL had triplets...but its been years- and basically she just gave directions and we helped.  DH and I were arguing in Baby Depot about how often to bath a baby...it was shameful, really!  So glad things are going good, lots of happy baby dust to you. -Jenn-

I have what to expect when your expecting, great expectations, and your pregancy week by week. I love your pregnacy week by week.    The other two are just OK. I buy most of my books used from amazon.com.    Its so much cheaper than the bookstore, but you do have to wait on the books to be shipped. Amy

I am sure you know this, but you can get most books on half.com pretty damn cheaply.

I'll send you my "what to expect" if you want it. I also have "The Nursing Mother's Companion" which was useless to me since I never produced enough to even think about nursing. PM me if you want either.
