Topic: RE: PCOS & Pain During Intercourse
a little late with this post.  From personal experience, every time I had pain with intercourse it was due to a cyst flare up.  No I am not referring to something small but 3 the size of golf balls or one the size of a softball.  Most of the time I can ignore the pain but when it interferes with sex, I generally call the doctor.

I was on Nuvaring as well but learned my body liked the extra estrogen and usually made the cyst smaller. I later opted for a tubal ligation since the hubby and I didn't want kids.

Topic: Bleeding issues before surgery
Has anyone had any major bleeding before surgery that wouldnt stop??  They have now put me on high dosage of BC pills and it worked, But once I stoped them 3 days later I started to bleed again. My surgery is very concerned about this since ill be on blood thinners after surgery.

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem?

This post really helps me. My mom says I'm losing really slow although I'm happy about that. My PCOS may be the cause. I just visited my primary doc and she gave me the go ahead to start my metformin again, but only half dosage this time. I had WLS on Oct 3rd and have lost 31lbs as of today.

The same thing happened to me. I was on nuva ring for several years, and started having pain. Turns out I have fibroids. Switched to oral birth control, but still had pain. Went off birth control for about 8 months, had no periods and no pain. Been back on BC for a month now. Just had my first cycle since march--- but no pain! I am thinking that the break from synthetic hormones made my fibroids shrink, therefore alleviating the pain. Just my guess.

Good luck, you are not alone!

Wow! How exciting! I know I would be over the moon if I found out I was pregnant. Excellent news for you and so happy for you, too!

Thank you for that ray of hope. I'm 8mos post op right now and my last period was June I believe. I'm getting worried at the absence of it. I'd been irregular since my first period at age 13, but for about 5-6mos just before the surgery I was like clockwork! I'm guessing it was because of the weight loss before the surgery.

But after the surgery I thought I'd regulate immediately...nope. So, now I'm doubly worried. Haven't told my doc yet, but I definitely will after I post this.

Thank you again! I thank you for taking the time to tell me of your success. I'm hoping to join you! :)

Do not give up hope!

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19 (after many years of irregular periods, facial hair, etc.) I was put on the pill at 13 to "regulate" my periods. Fast foward to 1999, at age 25 when I got married and came off the pill so we could immediately start trying. No luck, stil irregular, frustrated and tried almost everything short of IVF. Lost hope and gave up.

March 25, 2010 - Gastric Bypass (RNY) and lost 130 lbs by Dec 2010.
No more diabetes, no more high blood pressure, no more sleep apnea...yay!
The doctor cautioned me that my fertility could be affected and not to get pregnant before 18 months post surgery. Wen to my 18 month check up, have maintained my weight and all vitamin levels are good, so I got the green light to try!!

October 30th, 2011 - Went to the Walgreen's Take Care Clinic for an eye infection and found out I am PREGNANT!!! (Had to take a uring test to make sure in case I needed antibiotics). What a shock!! Thought it would never happen.

I am almost 8 weeks along now, due on July 3rd, 2012! I am 37 and will be 38 when I deliver.

Good luck to you!

Hello everyone!

I'm 8months post op, been diagnosed with PCOS since Apr. 2002, and have been TTC since 1998. I'm hoping that losing weight (I've lost 160 lbs so far) that my chances for a family is still possible.

Have any of you achieved pregnancy after significant weight loss?

I have an appointment w/the surgeon next week and am still trying to decide between the VSG and RNY.  I really want the VSG but have heard about a lot of people still having a really hard time losing weight b/c of their PCOS.  I kind of have a double whammy, as I also have hypothyroidism.  Any thoughts?
