Topic: Hi, I'm Jenny.. :)
Hello, My name is Jennifer, I'm 21 years old, I am new to OH and I am a PCOS Cyster. I was DX in 2006 at the age of 15. I am 4'11" and weigh 275lbs. I am strongly hoping to get WLS in order to better myself, and my future of tying to get preggers. :) I would like to know some ladies, or girls who have had positive results from having WLS while having PCOS. Please send me a friend request too! :)

Topic: RE: PCOS before and after weight loss surgery
Hi LIz! I know this is a bit late and you've probably figured this out by now, but I had to post just in case. I have been doing alot of study on PCOS & Bariatric surgery lately and what I've noticed on alot of the med sites is that under the 'risks' section, they say that malnutrition is the thing that cause PCOS symptoms to become worse after surgery. They say it's usually due to not adhering to the post operative eating guidlines and not taking the right vitamins and supplements that are supposed to be prescribed by your surgeon. If you haven't had this problem corrected yet, you might want to look into that...............Big hugs!
Topic: RE: Has anyone with PCOS not lost weight after WLS?
I still lost weight, but is was slow. And although I have lost a lot of weight my PCOS is still an issue when it comes to fertility.
BTW- I had my band removed and had bypass. Im not sure if that changes anything.

My stall was at about 3-1/2 weeks and lasted about 3-1/2 weeks. I've started losing again but it is very slow. Of course, this is still lower than I've been in forever, so I'm happy about that... I'm dreading seeing my doctor in 2 weeks tho, because I'm sure that I'm going to get told how awful I'm doing.
Topic: RE: Metformin after Surgery

PCOS unfortunately isn't a qualifier... but if you get diagnosed with Insuline resistence and are taking metformin, you can put down diabetic with treatment. It depends on your diagnosis and treatment plan; be sure to talk to your doctor about it.
Also, ensure you call your insurance company and ask them specifically what the criteria is, each ins company is different. Mine only required BMI of 40 and up OR 35+ with co-morbidity.
I qualified with the bmi alone.

Hi Jeni!
Sorry to tell you that once diagnosed with PCOS, you will always have PCOS; it can go dormant and have recurring cycles etc.
Facial hair, cysts, discoloring of the skin, menstrual disruption, infertility etc are all partnered with PCOS. With weight loss these things 'usually' go dormant, but stress, birth control, pregnancy, miscarriage, stress etc can all cause it to flare up again.
Like the lady above said, there are skinny PCOSers too, It unfortuantely isn't a cookie cutter diagnosis, there is no one size fits all.
I hope your cyst issue is fixed up (was a month ago) somtimes bcp can help with ovarian cysts, but it sounds like yours has already gone past that point.
Good luck! (from a fellow PCOSer!)
