Here's a success story for you:

I had severe PCOS and could not ovulate for anything. My husband and I tried to get pregnant for two years after we got married, then saw a fertility specialist for another five years. Nothing.

Six months after my surgery (and with my surgeon's okay), we started trying again. First month, Positive Pregnancy Test! Now, we have the most perfect 5.5 month old little girl. We wouldn't have had her if I hadn't had my surgery. I would do it again in a minute.

I have PCOS and had surgery in May.

My cycles are completely regular now (27-28 days) as opposed to 30-32 days. They are lighter with less cramping.

The hair on my chin and neck is much reduced and I hope it eventually goes away completely.

I never had cysts on my ovaries so can't comment on that.

I was on metformin prior to surgery and stopped taking it right after.  I also had insulin resistance and by my 6 week appointment it was gone completely.

Now I have read that people are worried about actually losing weight with surgery because PCOS means you are less successful.  I am 7 months post op and have lost 101 pounds or 37% of my total weight or 68% of my excess body weight.

Hope this helps.

Hi i found out that had pcos when i was about 14 years old, it took me a while to have children but i have 3 handsome boys 11, 6, & 5. So it is definitely possible to have children with pcos. I am proof, i still have screwed up cycles for weeks at a time that's when ever i have a cycle. So good luck keep trying.

I get these terrible to, to the point I cannot walk, The only thing that works for me is LIDODERM skin patches, i cut the in half, it numbs them and pulls the abscess out.

Hello fellow Cysters!

I am hoping to have sleeve surgery next month and need to look in birth control a.s.a.p. I haven't been on anything for the past 10 years and never had a scare, probably due to being morbidly obese. Now that I am surgery bound, I am sure with weight loss, pregnancy will need to be avoided like never before. I am out of the loop, what is the best BC pill in your opinion? I would like to try Mirena, but my PCP, said it only works if you have had children. Help!
