Thanks for the reply, I think I should follow up with an OBGYN, I guess what is really required for a PCOS diagnosis would be cysts on the ovaries, how is that diagnosed? Ultrasound?

P.S. I LOVE YOUR FORUM NAME!!

Sound like pcos.  Some people with it have regular periods.  I would find a good GYN that understands PCOS and and endocrynogist     Good luck

Hey Gang,

I have never believed that I had PCOS.  I have never been diagnosed as having PCOS, my periods are always regular.  BUT, my husband and I have been TTC for 5 yeas with no luck, temperature tracking indicates that I am not ovulating.  He had kids in a previous marriage, so I know he is fertile.  I do have Athancosis Nigricans (neck, underarms, and inner thigs) and have struggled with skin tags for some time.  I have excess facial hair around my chin/neck too.  My weight gain started immediately after puberty and I have always been a very reasonable eater.  Tracking calories, eating fresh "real" foods, remaining active, but my body just seems REALLY good at making fat.

Is it possible that I do actually have PCOS or maybe some other kind of insulin resistance/metabolic disorder.  Or maybe I just am fat and as a result have a hormonal imbalance from the extra weight?

I guess I just assumed PCOS was off the table for me since I do get regular periods, am I wrong?

I am just now looking into surgeries. I have PCOS and weigh 241 lbs at 5'5. My husband and I have been trying to conceive. Is surgery best option? I do not have periods on my own and do not ovulate without clomid. Any suggestions on best surgery? HELP!

Topic: PCOS AND RNY

I am getting very close to getting a surgery date.  I have been reading all of your wonderful stories of success.  So it is only natural that I start worrying that I will be the exception to the rule.  I would love to hear from someone that has/had pcos and their experience  with rny.  Will the weight loss be slower than what no pcos people experience ?  Is there a greater a fail rate?

Dr 10 years ago and the surgery then.

Hello,

I saw no one responded to you and since I was on here looking for a surgeon to revise my surgery, I thought I would give you some insight.

As of today, I disabled my profile because it depresses me to know that others are looking at it possibly thinking its a "success" story.

I was a big bandster.  I had surgery in 2007, I have pcos and no children.  I lost 97 pounds but half of that, I lost pre-op.....I had a total of 14 fills and NEVER hit a sweet spot.

I was either too loose or too tight.....I'm sure there are successful bandsters but be careful, if you are over 300 pounds, I don't suggest the band.  Just my opinion.

If you want to talk further, email me.

Topic: RE: How Do I Lose Weight WITHOUT Surgery?

Yearofme,

I'm right there with you on the Plexus Slim.  I had the sleeve in 2010, and I thought it was hopeless to ever start losing again. I started it on 12-19 and have lost around 10 lbs.  It's like I have NO carb desires anymore!! It was originally designed for diabetics, but it has truly been a miracle for me.  I'm a surgical registered nurse, and was even beginning to look around for maybe a revision surgeon.  Heck, I was so impressed, I became an ambassador.

I noticed on the testimonials, that others with PCOS that had started Plexus, had awesome reports of reduced or completely resolved symptoms! My daughter, although undiagnosed, has struggled with similar symptoms.  She just started on Plexus, as well.

I'm very happy that you are having such great results.  Many blessings on your weight loss journey!!

Connie
