You can take NSAID's after the VSG. I dont think you can take them right away, but eventually you will be able to take them again. That was one reason i wanted the DS or VSG. I would ask at your pre-op appt how far out you have to be to take them.

I know exactly how you feel.  The ability to actually feel normal, anticipate your cycle, plan activities, and not feel horrible when it is here for 30 plus days is something that I yearned for as well.  Good luck at your appt.

I'm also new here, but have both of these conditions. The fatty liver was just discovered. I was told that the two were connected and I have seen it online while researching too. Hopefully if/when I get my WLS these will both improve or even go away for the most part.

Sorry, I am so used to being on the VSG forum that I forgot to mention that that is what I am having, so your thoughts are even more relevant!
Thanks for the info - and wow - 46lbs in a month, great job!  I can only hope to have your success.

I had surgery on 9/10 and have lost 46 lbs so far. I have had some weird cycling since and the cramps were okay.

I dont know what meds you will be able to take since you are doing the RnY and I did the VSG.

Good luck with your surgery!! Dr. Foote is great!

Hello fellow PCOSers, I have a question for ya!

My surgery date is 10/14, and I am just getting off of the BC and Spiro, hoping that the surgery will help me have a period on my own.  My question is - does the surgery help with cramps at all?  When I get my period, either from BC or from my occasional natural period (once a year) if I'm not taking it, my cramps hurt so bad that I can barely get out of bed.  Before, my doctor had me taking 800mg of Ibuprofen three times a day for the whole period, plus 2 days before and after.  She also gave me darvocet, which I have to use for about 2-3 days,  because the ibu. doesnt take away all of the intense pain.
I am nervous about this, because of the inability to take NSAIDs after surgery.  Is darvocet ok?
Or, please tell me what I want to hear :o ) and that the cramps go away.
Thanks for the help!

I had my RNY in July 07 and finally my cycle started (on it's own) in October 07.  I didn't do anything, one day it just started and it turned into clockwork (every 34 days for 3 days).  Good luck!  Have you talked to you OB/GYN?
