Yeah I will be HIGH RISK thru out the whole PREGO! UGH! Since Ive had Cysts that actually BURST, that is a high concern for my OB.  He told me, that it would be better to do my U/S later bc If I WOULD miscarry, It would Most likely happen with-in the First 8 weeks, bc of my Cysts.I go every week to see him though, just to make sure my Blood levels and count is good.  Im on a REALLY HIGH DOSE of Vitamins, (UGH constipation suxs) lol, The only side"effect" right now i have is Nausea. I want to so bad to puke, But I cant! I have it 24/7!

Interesting.   I too had severe PCOS and never cycled before loosing my weight.  I was even resistant to Clomid and injections, anyway I guess it's all up to the doc.  I would think too that if your doc thinks your so high risk that they wouldn't wait until you're 10w to do your 1st u/s.  Are they going to keep thinking you high risk after you're into your 2nd trimester?  Regardless relax...enjoy your pregnancy and I hope you have yourself a healthy full term baby!

BTW - that crampiness if you're feeling it...completely normal...

I would highly suggest looking into Metformin as well. However, the more carbs you eat the more side effects you have from the metformin (at least that has been my experience). I was dx'd pre-surgery with PCOS and went on to have two successful pregnancies, both while on metformin. In fact one of the warnings on metformin is to use BC if you are concerned about pregnancy.

Also check out soulcysters.com There is a wealth of information there!

Since my PCOS is so severe They put me HIGH RISK. ( My dr said that since my cysts are so bad, and my PCOS is so bad, it could attack the egg, thinking its a foreign object) I cant have a U/S until 2 more weeks to hear the Heartbeat. Its just so crazy. Never in a million years I would think to be prego!
just nuts!

Congratulations!  BTW...having PCOS doesn't always make you immediately high risk for pregnancy.  I too have PCOS and have NOT been treated high risk.  Since you're already 8w along you just have 4 more weeks to 'be in the clear' for miscarriage.  Have they done any u/s?  Once you have a heartbeat...your risk of miscarriage (PCOS or not) goes down to <5%.

Also, I totally feel ya on the mom issue.  My husband and I have been together since I was 16 and after actively ttcing for 8 years (I was clomid & injection resistant) we gave up ttc and I had my WLS.  At 16 months post op we decided to not use any protection and were floored when my HPT came back positive the day my period was due.  I couldn't believe it, it finally happened!  Granted it took us 9 years 4 months to get it...but we got it!!  Never in a million years did I think I would be a mom either.  Now here I sit, 4+ years post op and almost due to deliver my 2nd...yep...2nd post op baby!  Who would have thought that I'd be a mom to 2?

Anyway...congrats!!!

Kristy

BTW - July babies rock!  My DD1 is a July baby...

Have they tested your fasting insulin numbers?  Many women with PCOS are also Insulin Resistant (meaning that their body is resistant to the insulin it produces so you'll have excess insulin floating around in your blood stream).  You may also benefit from taking Metformin as it helps the body become more sensitive to the insulin your body is creating.  I know you crave carbs and ya gotta love PCOS for that but sticking to a low carb/high protein diet may help as well.  Good luck with the Provera/Clomid combo, I hope it works quickly for you!  Also have you posted this on the Post Op Pregnancy board?  There are lots of women who are TTC there and are in the same boat as you (PCOS & all).

Good luck Beth!

Topic: Can anyone help? Post op 3 yrs with PCOS

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and my hubby and I are trying to conceive. Dr put me on progesterone to kickstart my period. I start my first cycle of Clomid, too, once I have a period.

Anyone know why PCOS won't go away with WLS? I am 3 yrs RNY post-op, and the symptoms of PCOS are getting stronger.

I have regained 30# since surgery, mostly because of giving in to carb cravings and sugar cravings, that I know is my fault, but my Dr said it is largely due to PCOS.

Anyone in the same boat?

Thanks,

Beth D

 Hi Catnip,
It seems to work pretty well but I haven't given up my tweezers but that might be my own fault.  I think you're supposed to apply it twice a day and I only do once.  I'm not sure how the Canadian pharmacies operate but I know here, I have to shop around because there can be quite a price difference on Vaniqa at the various chains.  I forgot the last time and spend about $80 since it is not covered by insurance.  I think other chains sell it for $60.

Topic: RE: Facial Hair
Well I am sorry to say that my facial hair is still growing and I am 15 months post op.  I also have started using lazer hair removal and so far I am impressed, I only had one session and I already notice a decrease in the amount of hair under my *****on neck)  it is expensive $500.00 for 7 treatments and that is only my neck , if it does work well then I am going to do my side burns next!!!
