Hi,

I'm sorry you've had sooooo many problems post op, don't you just love PCOS!

I can see you talk to your nut, that's good, but most of them have not been trained with PCOS or wls patients.  Are you staying high protein, low carb?

You can go to fitday.com and track your eating, it will break down fat,carbs,protein,cals...you can also track your exercise habits.  Maybe you'll see something others do not.

I am 46 yrs old and was dx'd with PCOS at 16.  I've been overweight, insulin resistance, infertile...my whole life.  I totally understand where you are coming from, with the difficulties with weight loss.

Good luck,

Edie

That's why I chose the RNY myself.  I have been off all diabetes med's since the day of my surg.  My 6mo' A1C was 5.2,  I was stunned.  I just got my year blood work done today, (a bit late), but I've been doing great! My bp was 120/80 w/o any meds.....

This is by far the BEST thing I have ever done for myself.

Here's my stats.

Happy New Year,

Edie

Hi Sheena,

Welcome to the PCOS board. Its a little on the quiet side, but eventually we start coming out of the woodwork.

Do you have a surgery date scheduled yet? I have PCOS and am insulin resistant (well should say was). I had surgery in September. At the end of October, my fasting glucose levels were still a little high, but by the end of November, they were within the normal range. I stopped my glucophage at 2 weeks prior to surgery.

Are you on meds for your diabetes?

Topic: RE: Almost 10mo out and still irregular
I would surely say Provera.

I am 3 years out, still have PCOS and still irregular cycles.  I was told by my GYN years ago, that the purpose of a cycle is to get all of that out.  So he suggested that I take provera monthly to keep my body functioning properly and keep from getting and kind of infections, cancers, or endometriosis (sorry about spelling).

I think it is personally necessary to have a cycle every month.  I was one when I was younger who didn't know anything about PCOS got my cycle 1st when I was 8 years old and not again until 10.  I never minded it and so did my mother, when I got it at 10, and then not again until 11, that's when I started seeing a GYN about it.

So here I am, 20 years later still with PCOS even after WLS.  This is sooooooo depressing...

I am looking into a revision because I've been told too that PCOS slows down your weight loss process and here I am almost 3 years post op and still have about 40 lbs to loose.  I've maintained my weight loss for the past 2+ years and then picked up about 10 lbs within the last 4-6 months.

Anyway, that's a bit of my history, and I suggest you take Provera.

Topic: Almost 10mo out and still irregular
I am almost 10 months out from RNY and my periods are still pretty irregular.  I have had a period at least every other month.  But what I am wondering is, should I be on Provera so I can get my period every month?  Or is having it once every other month or even a little less ok?

I just want to know if any of you that have PCOS were able to get pregnant with out fertility drugs after you had WLS.  I have one son who is six but I had to take fertility drugs with him.  Just curious.

I have been on OH for a while now but never in this forum.  Up until recently I have been on the fence between RNY and the Lap band.  But I too have PCOS and Diabetes and after reading some of the posts about how hard it is for us to loose weight, I know that I made the right decision for the RNY.  The Lap Band already has a lower weight loss and if it is going to be harder for me to loose weight off top I need to have the WLS that I can loose the maximum weight.

Well progesterone helps release prometrium lining in the uturus. Which in turn can help to develop a baby as well as bring your period. However let me explain being overweight causes   My pcos reversed completely after surgury but it tends not to fix alll of your hormonse so tyy to go to a reproductive endocirinologist to check the rest ou
