Hi everyone. My surgery was OCt. 13th 2014.
I hear that most people with PCOS have a period a few days after surgery, but i'm almost 4 weeks out and nothing.
I'm down (from my 6 month wait prior to now) 55lbs. should I be worried?
Thanks for the reply...it does help. :)

I have not had my surgery yet, but the research that I have done indicates 100% remission of menstrual dysfunction and 79% remission of hirsutism. I know people who have had PCOS, weight loss surgery, and was able to conceive, but I am unsure about their status with PCOS.
I hope this helps.
I got the go ahead at 1 month out for trying to conceive. I refused any birth control because studies show that is the worst thing you can take for PCOS, plus it messes with the pressures in my head. So far nothing (5 months out), but hoping the miracle happens soon. My PCOS has completely gone away, only had one cyst form at 2 months out from surgery, but since have been pretty regular.
Hello all,
I am wondering if anyone has had PCOS, had weight loss surgery and then didn't have the PSOC symptoms anymore?
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14...and I'm...way older now *lol* and STILL struggle with it. I am having my bariatric surgery on the 14th of this month and just curious if there were other ladies out there that have dealt with this...
Any info would be great :)
Thanks,

If you could that would be great, I hope it helps. I am seeing my doctor next week and will be asking about met and excess hair, whether it might help.
So the dr said i can take metformin again because im starting to get a dark ring aroumd my neck (from elevated sugar levels) my dr said no to the spirolactone because my blood pressure has super dropped! Apparently metformin is absorbed better now so literally my dosage when to 2000mg down to 500mg and i have to be careful to not get low blood sugar- which has happened atleast once a day.. ill let you know of the weightloss starys again now that im on the met :)
I am 2.5 months out and I have the same questions - in my case the excess hair has returned to a certain degree. I am taking the full amount of spironolactone but no metformin at all since before opti. Let me know what your doctor says, I will be asking the same from mine.
I had rny surgery on oct 2nd and i havent lost anything this past week and a half.. its makjng me nervous because the first month youre supposed to lose a lot! I do have pcos and my dr Cut my metformin and spirolactone once i had my surgery. Im just wondering if a) this stall is normal so soon after surgery or b) if i need to go back on metformin.. my neck is starting to get dark again which is making me worry too.. which i know means excess sugar in the bloodstream. Does anybody take met after surgery? Blahhh! Somebody help!!
This is a late response, but congrats! Same happened to me after my VSG. When I had my first normal and natural period I was like wow! Then I ovulated and was like holy crap... my body is becoming "normal" (LOL)!
