just wondering about those of you that have had WLS and had your facial hair reduce or disappear? I had a sleeve 5 years and my cycles are great and I have kids. My only problem is FACIAL HAIR!! It's really horrible on my chin and neck, it's been like this since I hit puberty and I'm now 40 and am really tired of it. I am going to have to be re-sleeved, and and considering other surgeries if there was any hope of it helping.
Thank you!

Girl do I, I am having an emotional, anxiety breakdown now. Yesterday, I did not want anyone to come over, and hey I live by myself anyway. All I want to do is curl up and get underneath my covers and hide. I cry out of the blue over the silly commercials, and feel so very insecure. Its like if a person does not respond the way I think they should, I feel insecure and starting questioning myself like why did you say that. So thank GOD I have a job where I can come in and just do my work, very minimal interaction until this past.
Unfortunately due to my PCOS, I get cystic acne, and decided to take some birth control..well the birth control that I tried were not for me, started gaining weight immediately and I got constipated, so immediately got off of them, and not my cycle is completely off. I got thru the emotions of my cycle at least twice a month. I'm trying to figure out should I go back to my old birth control pills to regulated and hopefull kick start my DS tool of weight loss. I hate that I have gained weight and I feel like I weigh a ton now. Wondering should I see a gyno or and endo.

Awesome, and good for you! The more you lose better your PCOS will subside. It won't end, but subside dramatically in some cases. Regular cycle and all.

LOL, yes I get it...congrats! My cycle because I started and ended some birth control pills is irregular. Now I am going thru the change twice a month. Trying to figure out should I go to a gyno or an endo

Hello all!
I had an RNY on 2-18-15 and I wanted to let you know that I have lost 42 lbs and some of my symptoms have lessened. Less facial hair and less perspiration are the most noticeable. :)
My surgeon's office nurse made a comment to me that really hit home. There are 3 kinds of people in WLS. There are those who lose at a steady pace, like sliding down a slope. Then there are the "step" people... who plateau and then drop weight... plateau and then drop weight. And then there are those who barely lose anything... (but that's because they are already cheating, IMO)
It sounds like you are a "step" person, and that's perfectly fine, but I do agree with you on the Metformin. I'd go back and speak to him. My regular doctor plans on keeping me on it for a while after surgery because with all that weight that will come off it will also release stored hormones into my system. We will slowly cut bac****il I don't need it for my PCOS.
This is my first time posting on the forum but I have been reading it for awhile. Just figured I would share something funny and personal. My period started which for me is a big deal. I told my grandma and her response with this look of excitement "good for you" I died laughing. Only the kind of a joy a grandma can have.
Ive never had a fibroid or a pregnancy come to term so I dont know how those affect PCOS. However I have had PCOS since puberty (or I guess forever). I had PCOS way before becoming overweight.
I stopped taking my metformin before surgery. I had a period start 1 day before surgery. Then about a month later another one. They are always heavy and last at minimum 7 days (longest was 64 days) for me. I have to double even triple my iron due to the heaviness of my flow. I thought I was becoming "normal" after my surgery but it diodnt last. I had one more cycle a month later, then for three months its been nothing. Ive lost almost 130 lbs and am 7ish from hitting a "normal" BMI. Its been 8.5 months since my surgery.
Its different for everyone. I keep waiting and hoping my PCOS symptoms subside, but only time will tell.
Best of luck

I came over to this board looking to see if anyone had posted how long it takes to get better. I am about 8.5 months and at first I thought things were getting back to my normal. I say my normal because I have never had a "normal" cycle.
I wasn't overweight when my PCOS started, apparently i'm special that way, although it is highly likely that my mom had PCOS and my aunt on my dad's side likely has it. Anyway, I had a period when I had my surgery, and then nothing for 3 months, then two months normal, and now its been two months again and nothing! I thought for that two month period I was getting back to normal but then nope.
I still have all my other symptoms, when I actually have a period its so heavy and lasts at least two weeks, sometimes a month. Most of the time I know i'm not ovulating, but I have ovulated once. I only know this because when I do ovulate I have incredible pain. Before I knew what was happening I had to go to the ER (this was a few years ago), now I don't even bother because there is nothing they can do. None of my hair has changed. Stomach is still covered. Oh and lets not even get on the subject of acne.
Getting this surgery wasn't so I could have kids. I wasn't able to get pregnant before being overweight, and since i've had partially successful IVF and several FET. I still don't know from one day to the next if I really want kids. I guess I just want the option. People tell me not to overthink it, but they all have kids. It's really easy to tell someone to be patient, or not over think something when you had no trouble.
I keep my carbs low - I have to with the DS. I am exercising. Heck I even almost have a "normal" BMI. Anyway, thank you for letting people know it can be beat. Maybe there is still hope for me.
