Dangit! I hate my dark neck. My neck is like literally black due to my PCOS. The doctor told me if I lose weight it'll get better. Man! Anyone else have problems with this annoying, and sometimes embaressing dark spots. My friend just got diagnosed and under her arms are darker, her neck, and her tummy. Ughhh! WHYYY MEE! lol You know what! WHYYYY US!

Yep. I had a black ring around my neck. Your doc is right. Mine has completely gone, when the weightloss starts. good luck

What you have is called Acanthosis Nigricans and has been linked to an insulin imblance. I had it too...also had the elbows, bra line, inner thigh, under my panni...and it gets better as the weight comes off because our insulin levels start to normalize. Good luck! Kristy

I have that too! Mine is so bad that sometimes it peels! My DR. said that this is normal and once I loose weight that it will disapear. I have it everywhere my neck, patches on my back and legs around my upper torso where my bra rests. I get so embarrassed because it looks like I don't bathe well and that is not the case. Oh well one can only wait and scrub-a-dub-dub!!

I used to have the dark neck. My endocrinologist new when I walked in I was insulin resistance and had PCOS from just looking at me. They all go hand in hand. Get tested for insulin resistance and get treated!! Brigitte

i was suprised to know that alot of drs didnt know this was a sign of insulin resistance. i work for a drs office and i went to our endocrinologist and she told me this.. when i told the dr i work for she was shocked and now checks alot of pts for this. i have it around the back of my neck, bra line i hope it goes away but because i can cover it its not something that really  bothers me. i also wonder if laser treatments would help fade it? i stated metformin and i have noticed it slowly is getting lighter too..
