PCOS and ???
Anita~ My husband and I tried for a year to get preggers before going to a fertility doctor. That is when I was diagnosed. My pcp and my fertility doctor agreed to have surgery, wait a year and then they will help to get me preggers. Most fertility docs will want you to try for 6 months to a year, but at 33 it would be more like 6 months. Be sure to start prenatal pills right away before you try... you need the extra folic acid. Then keep track of your cycles on a calandar. A tell tale sign of pcos is long or irregular cycles. The first couple of months off the pill will probably mimic that 28 day cycle...but if your cycles get longer it could mean you are not ovulating properly. I was even taking my temp daily and it showed a rise in temp as if I had ovulated, but testing showed I did not actually ovulate. I don't think it would hurt to go to your ob and let them know that you are going to be trying. Then it is documented that you are trying. As for me, because I already tried for a year...the game plan is to go off birth control, have my tubes flushed for maximum mobility and then try for a couple of months while I am being tested to see if I ovulate. Then I may need clomid to help me ovulate...and if hubby's guys are working right we would go on to more fertility plans. Hope I won't need to go that far though. Anyway, good luck in your journey. Maybe you should do some posting on the pregnancy message board...it is a little more active than this one. Shari
hi shari,
i just got on the metformin pill that says it is possible to ovulate with that pill. frankly i dont think i will ovulate since of pcos. i am doing thr basal temp every morning yeasterday was 97.0 now today is 97.2 so it does read different and not sure if i will get pregg this time. my obgyn knows we are trying also. i do go to the pregnancy board alot i love those women over there. thanks. anita
Anita.... Metformin can help with ovulation...but it is generally prescribed when you are insulin resistant. Have you been tested for this or diabetes? I had diabetes and was on metformin when I was temping. Just beware that even if you show the temp rise you might not be ovulating...like me. I mean it is good to get an idea of your cycles, but the only true way to tell is with more testing, bloodwork and such. Hopefully you will get preggers in the 6 months time! Good luck to you and keep us all posted!! Shari
