help me!!!
I was put on Aldactone for the elevated testosterone and that helped a lot with the facial hair. I have heard that hormonal birth control is best - the pill, patch and nuva ring can all also help control the extra hair. I am currently on the nuva ring and love it. You insert the ring into the vagina and it stays there for 3 weeks. You go one week ring free and then start the cycle over again. The hormones are lower than those of the patch and there is no daily pill to remember or tolerate.
I was on Aldactone before. It was helping little bit but how many mg did you take if you dont mind asking me. Speaking about Nuva ring, does it pop out if you dont put in right place. What about sex? Does your parnter can tell if you have the ring? So you are saying that you are on the ring and decrease facial hair? I might talk abou that to my dr. about that. Thanks smile tushanna
I stopped aldactone about 4 years ago and don't remember the mg I was on at the time. After the birth of my son, I did not go back on it as my testosterone was regulated by metformin and I had no need of the aldactone. The metformin also helped with the excess hair. That was 1000 mg 2x a day.
As for the ring, it does not have a certain "place" like a diaphram - you just crease it and put it in. I have been on it for 5 months now and have never had it slip out or have felt it at all, and I use tampons with it as well. My husband says he has felt the ring but it doesnt bother him or make any difference at all. I am not sure if the ring has made any difference in the facial hair but I do know that hormone contraceptives are supposed to help a bit in general. Hope this info helps!
i have had pcos for 14 years, I have a terrible Hirsutism. I have had two children I am on metformin my testosterone levels sky rocketed after my kids. I am taking 100mg of aldactone a day with my metformin and the hair on my face is slowing down and thinning , also i have heard the byetta pin will help also but i havent tried it yet. I am planning on asking my doctor about it. Good Luck 8-l
I know its all late, but I had to give my 2 cents.... I had laser hair removal. Worked like wonders for me personally. Depending on who you go to, it can be rather costly, but prices are dropping on this procedure... I had a package of 6 treatments... and have only had a few "fine hairs grow bacck.... but believe me... NOTHING like the hair I had before.... I recommend it to anyone!!!!!!!!!
