Facial Hair??
Amy,
Hello there hun, I feel your pain at one point I had to shave 2 times a day. Although I have not had WLS yet, I did have a few laser light treatments and the results are amazing, now it is under control, not gone but under control. I pluck and nair the rest out. The only problem with the treatment is that you have to stay out of the sun before and after and you have to let the hair grow a bit before a treatment but after you can shave it off. In about two weeks after the treatment it just starts to fall out... It is awesome. Then you can continue to go for treatments as needed and pluck in between. I hope this helps you. My doctor also tells me with the weight lose it will get much beter. If you want to talk email me. Oh and just to warn you the treatments are expensive but... worth every dime.

Just a quick heads up, laser treatments are not the end all. I have spent betewwn 7-8K on laser treatments and probably another 2k on electrolosis and I still have TONS of facial hair. I am hoping that as I lose weight, the PCOS will decrease and get rid of some of those male hormones that will in turn make the laser treatment more effective.

Amy-
My primary care doc told me that if I were to try hair removal treatments, that they wouldn't work well until AFTER I'd lost my weight. So that's my goal. Lose the weight. THEN lose the facial hair. I can't wait to be free of the facial hair annoyances!
Getting your hormones in synch will help somewhat with the growth, but once you have the folicles stimulated on your face, and especially if you have plucked them in the past, the thickest ones will likely remain.
I do have electrolysis every other week. I've been going for about a year and a couple months now and it has significantly reduced. It does take some time to get rid of the really coarse ones though.
After a time, I did find from my electrologist that if you use Vaniqa with the electrolysis it will help get rid of the problem quicker.
My electrolysis sessions run between $20-24 each, so they don't exactly break the bank for me. May take awhile, but eventually the problem will be resolved.
