Put a little faith in Laser hair removal
Hey all, sorry kinda long-
I have suffered with the horrible facial hair since I was about 18 years old. As years went on, the hair only got worse, and by 2005 I had moved up to a full beard and goatee... I have seen many posts about laser hair removal being expensive.... I just wanted to advise some of my cysters to give it a try....
I was plucking just about everyday... and some of u can relate: I felt like a dude!!! Well I saw a special in the paper here in my town for a wonderful price on a 6 treatment package and I figured i'd try it. And let me tell you..... this is the best money I have spent in ALL my life!!!!!!! After only 3 treatments I have gone from plucking everyday pre-laser, to not plucking at all now..... And as you can see my skin tone.... where I frequently plucked was extremely more darker than my already dark skin. Well it has lightened and I feel brand new...
My numerous pairs of tweezers- they have always been my sidekicks. I kept one everywhere from the car to my pocketbook..... now I dont even have a clue where my tweezers are!!! And I wont even start on how I was with the concealer and foundations- but I dont use them for covering hair anymore!!!
Now I will say initially I was told by the nurse treating me that as a woman with pcos, I would always need a refreshing once every year or so after the six treatments I initially paid for. But the nurse decided to lessen the in-between time (usually 6 -8 weeks, but mine has been every 4) of each laser session, and the results have been remarkable!!!!
So if anyone has any doubts as to whether this actually works.... it does!!!! Everyones hair growth is different.... but it will definitely lessen what u may be going through now....
Take care cysters!!!!!!!!!!
Good for you! That's great.
And I can relate to having the many tweezers right along side with me. Even when I went on road trips I had them around. In the car, my job, my pocketbook, and my every morning trusty one by Revlon, the slanted one with the wide edge. Got in there real good and even pulled out the short ones just about to sprout.
A long time ago, we had a Aunt in a coma in the hospital. When my sister and I were at her bedside, we noticed her hairs, long ones. First thing out of my mouth was that if I am ever in a coma, tweeze me.
Good luck and be hairless!

Thank you for your message. I have been contemplating it for awhile. I am going to call and make an appointment. I want it done before my surgery.
How long did it take for your hair to grow back after the first session?
Second Session, and do you have to shave or tweeze in between sessions? I am loaded with questions, I like you, have had this over 20 years and yes have to shave 2x a day.

After the very first treatment hair was still coming back kind of at the same rate- and they will tell you NOT to pluck them- just shave them.... but I'm a creature if habit- I snuck a few plucks- but I did shave mostly. After the first treatment, hair will still grow, but the root is starting to deaden... so really- just shave it.
But its the second and third treament where you will really start to see the results!!!!
After the second treatment hair was growing back.... but it was alot slower....and only grew in certain places. I had stopped sneaking my tweezes and was strictly shaving any hair that was growing in.
By the third treatment, I was barely even shaving.... My third treatment was Nov. 28th, and I only shaved once since then which was Dec. 20th.
Since I have PCOS, the nurse suggested I make my treaments every 4 weeks (those without pcos can go longer) since our hair growth is faster than others.
I do think its a good idea to get your first treatment before surgery, mine is next week and I'm happy that I have one less thing to worry about after surgery...
Feel free to ask any questions you like.... I'll answer any the best I can!!
Good Luck on your journey!!!
OH how I can relate to everything you've said! I am so tired of plucking. My sister has PCOS and she has started the laser treatments. They are working for her but she's got to continue getting the treatments which are quite expensive. I too want to start treatments but the price is an issue for me. I've had enough of plucking my "beard". Maybe that will be on my '06 TO DO LIST. Congrats on your success with laser.
Hey EBony,
Yes, the laser treatments can be very costly. How is the treatment going for your sister now? For me, I could kiss the creator of laser hair removal!!!!
Usually toward the summertime when folks like to get in bikinis and speedos- you can find good deals on a laser removal package.... about 5 or 6 treatments for one set price. Believe me, the money will be well spent. Good luck!!!
