I have had PCOS for many years. Prior to surgery I was unable to menstrate on my own. Only through hormone therapy. Well I assumed that after surgery and some weightloss my body would start acting somewhat normal again! Atleast that is what everyone was saying. Well I am 3 and 1/2 post op. I have lost 83lbs so far ... and NOTHING!!! Noty even a flutter down there. LOL... This happen with anyone else? Missy 317/234/G.W. 150

I am in the same boat as you are with the periods, PCOS, underactive thyroid, and weight loss. I've been taking one provera tablet for ten days to bring it on for many years. But a good number of bandster on here are diabetic and do the metaformin. (spelling?) After being banded, and still doing the provera, (hate the stuff, makes me nutso) it been a no-show for many months. Last one was in the spring. Now, I finally had one this past week. And it was a humdinger. Clots and all. I know. I know. Gross. But also, watch for the color of your period. They say the dark brown is old. Bright red is newer. I had both. According to any bloodwork ups, I am not going into memopause, either. Now, they say that estrogen is stored in the fat and not getting your period while losing weight has to do with the release of estrogen into your body. This affects your period. Anyway it goes, on top of being a woman that can become pregant at any age, do get regular bloodworks up, too. Halina

I'm not sure since I went on the birth control pill right after surgery and then went on to the patch because the pill wasn't being absorbed properly. When I went off the patch at the end of July I was at my goal weight of 140 lbs and to my suprise I started having regular 36 day cycles (which was a big deal for me because prior to surgery I NEVER had cycles...not even Provera did any real good). Give your body some time...it may just need a bit more time to adjust. If you're still concerned give your OB/GYN a call. Also, congrats on your weight loss so far! Keep up the good work! Hi there! I must say you are not the only one that has these problems. I must agree with the last lady though...give your body time. I too was dignosed with PCOS. I have never had regular periods till jsut recently. For the past two months they have been coming like clock work---and I am almost 10 months post op. Give your body time. All our bodies work different in adjsuting to WLS. Your cycle will return when the time is right! Becky 390/275/???
